Who's one's favourite guitarist is a matter of taste. To me, Ana is one of the absolute best because she has a capability of articulating every single note, while finding expressivity across all the different colours and volumes. I value accuracy and perfection, so to me she is extraordinary. I appreciate some people prefer guitarists who take more freedom and consider the accurate ones as "mechanical" or "cold". Everybody is entitled to an opinion and every opinion must be respected, of course. Especially when the matter is art.

This is exactly what I love about Ana. If I were a guitarist, I would want my music to sound like hers. This is how I feel the music. This is very personal, so other musicians have their own interpretations and feelings and I credit them all.

A fresh approach to a standard in the guitar literature. I especially am impressed with her phrasing and her control of tone plus her sparing use of rubato (prevalent in many recordings of this piece). A very good performance overall. Definitely an A+. Well done.

I have never heard the introduction before. I just looked up the music and was trying to figure out what the heck I was looking at and decided to see if someone had the introduction on KZbin... I guess I had only heard the theme and variations before. Nice post thank you.

Perhaps the problem is that the piece should be titled, Variations on an Air of Mozart and not "... a Theme...." That confused me until I found the opus number. A few of this pieces youtube uploads have "Theme" in place of "Air."

Yeah Andres Segovia and some performers leave out the introduction. It think Segovia's published version of the music is sans Intro. The Complete collection of Sor works by Brian Jeffery have the introduction.

I've heard that the introduction was added by Sor later, after he had moved to England. My teacher joked that he needed a ponderous introduction to appeal to British sensibilities of the time.

Un talento raro e, prezioso...ho studiato chitarra classica anni fa.., credo poter affermare Ana Vudovic sia la migliore esecutrice di brani classici alla chitarra superiore a Segovia..un tecnico freddo matematico della chitarra , mentre la Vivodic interpreta e , colora emozionalmente le note in modalità e, sonorità avvolgenti..ricorda molto, un altro grande della chitarra che ascoltai tempo fa a Montepulciano in una sua rara esibizione italiana..Julian Brean , unico maestro che mi sento di affiancare, a questa ammirevole artista.... che ringrazio per la eccezionale perfezione delle sue esecuzioni
