Anacortes Oil-by-rail Lockdown

On the morning of Monday July 28th, 2014, Three Washington Community members locked themselves down to the railroad track outside of the Anacortes Tesoro refinery in protest of the drastic increase in crude oil shipped by rail through the Pacific Northwest. They locked themselves to the rail to prevent a massive oil train from leaving the refinery to go pickup a new load of explosive Bakken shale oil and to bring attention to oil industry's attempt to turn the Pacific Northwest into a giant fossil fuel export terminal. Within their interviews on the rail this morning they enumerated various extremely serious issues that accompany the increased rail shipment of Bakken shale oil through our area.

How many times have oil train exploded? And how long have railroads been transporting oil? The explosion in Quebec was a runaway train. That never happens,and it just happened to be an oil train.

These brave activists are setting the example for us all. Carbon Energy can NO LONGER be used. We MUST switch to sustainable non greenhouse gas producing energy ASAP. Thank you Adam and all others who took a stand Monday this week at the Anacortes refinery Climate Action on the railroad tracks!
