Can Christian’s wear leggings? And tight clothes? A lot of people say it’s not modest and that baggier clothes are better for modesty

Hey girl that’s a great question! When it comes to modesty I’ve personally gone through a long journey where I’ve felt convicted by the Holy Spirit to change the way that I dress. I used to dress to impress people or get the wrong attention and God truly changed my heart and He still is. I do love fashion and I live in Miami which is a really hot city, and where modesty is perceived a lot different. One thing that I’ve learned is that we can’t control how people see us, what is modest to me might not be modest for others. I think there needs to be accountability on both sides as well because men can perceive women the wrong way even if they look modest. At this moment in time, I’m not too extreme with it and I do my best to be led by God when it comes to how I live my life. I don’t feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit when wearing leggings, I think that in comparison to a lot of people around me I’m actually pretty covered up. But that can be different for you, I’d take it to God and make sure you’re always being mindful but not too extremist.

What are your thoughts on followers of Christ wearing tight leggings in the gym? Just curious, when I go to the gym I might think these women are “hot” but the spirit within me helps me look away and move on from even pursuing them seeing that my future wife won’t be trying to get male attention/ cause a brother to lust. Thanks for help!

Do you think it’s just the fact that they’re wearing leggings? I think that if that was the case it would also apply to men showing their arms at the gym. Modesty is a sensitive subject nowadays and I think women need to be led by God and be mindful without being extremists. We need to be guided by the Holy Spirit’s conviction. And as a husband led by the Spirit it seems that you’re doing the right thing by looking away!

@@blissofanano like I see women who wear leggings and have long shirts covering their butts and upper bodies and I think that’s still great; so no not just wearing leggings. Ya it would be interesting to learn what women of God struggle with in terms of lust because no one really talks about that?! Like most men feel invisible to women in the gym to begin with so wearing a tank top and shorts isn’t a big deal to us. Like do men resist lust more than women in the gym? My whole gym sessions lately are resisting lol :) thanks for discussing this! I want to be a better brother in Christ too

There's also nothing wrong with being proud of what God gave you especially when you take really good care of it. I'm a lower weight/higher rep weight lifter. My tight leggings are what helps support my back, glutes, and thighs. They're a tool. I'm also not going to wear extra clothing to cover my bum and end up getting super hot.
