The vast majority of reptiles sold as pets in the US are captive bred at this point. The talking points that PETA shares are littered with misinformation. I care about animal welfare a great deal *and* I keep reptiles and amphibians. I would respect PETA more if they had any regard for information accuracy, but time and again, the organization is caught willingly misinforming people in order to furher their particular goals. (And, yes, the organization leadership is against the keeping of *any* animal in captivity: including those adorable dogs. However, the talking points often focus on less popular pet species because it would be harder to gain new members if they focused too much on the organization's more extreme views. It's easier to get someone on board with the group if you say that "weird" pets aren't okay without mentioning that Fido should go, too.)

😅been to some villages in some remote places and I’m telling you right now if is not food for them they end up using it as bait to catch food theirs been cases of even native people driving species to extinction due to over hunting so it’s always a 50/50 love n hate love because we can keep and make more of the animals or different morphs that couldn’t be achieved in the wild 50bad because some keepers just keep them in plastic containers in racks in a shed and only interact once in a blue moon
