In this video, I'm sharing Step One AA, the first step in the Alcoholics Anonymous program. If you're looking for help with your drinking problem, this is the first step you need to take.
This video is for beginners, so if you're new to AA or need a refresher on the steps, then this is the video for you! I'll explain the steps carefully, and by the end of the video, you'll be ready to start your journey to sobriety!

I am the slave, it is my master. It’s a physical, mental, and spiritual disease, and I know that I know I need a strong foundation and I must get step one to begin and I know that I have to do this step one hundred percent. The first thing I had to do was stop drinking and using, and admit that I was an addict, I had trouble over the years admitting this as I thought I was just partying a bit to hard at the time until I hit rock bottom.

Hello Terry, your channel has helped me very much. I am powerless over alcohol and my life is unmanageable. I honestly admit powerlessness over alcoholism. I'm waiting to go into treatment soon, yay. God bless you.🙏

Just got home from my first meeting, 24 hours sober, this video gave me a lightbulb moment when you said step 1 wasn’t eventful. That it is a process done one step at a time that rewards you along the way. I also was expecting something miraculous when I finally admitted my powerlessness over alcohol. Thank you for reminding me that with hard work, I really can change my life and that it isn’t over for me.

I was too chicken to go to AA but eventually I fell in the door and stopped clucking. The Twelve Suggested Steps were there to save my life. So were the people who demonstrated that they worked.

Thank you, Greg. I'm glad I found your channel. I've been sober for 23 years, and for 13 of those years, I was living an isolated, miserable, dry drunk life. I recently returned to the program and enthusiastically working the steps with my sponsor. Returning to the basics makes me feel like a child learning to walk or, in my case, returning to the human race. Thanks again, and God Bless.

I have never "done" a "First Step". Step 1 was something that "happened" to me. I didn't plan it, direct it, design it, fabricate it, choreograph it, implement it, buy it, or "think" my way to it. "It just happened". What was the "It" you ask? A moment of peace, that I had finally reached the bitter end of my "endurance". There was no anger, no debate, and no "poor me". It was simply the realization that physically, mentally, emotionally, and morally, I could not live another day with the guy in the mirror! The "pitiful, incomprehensible demoralization" was OVER! To this day, I do NOT wake up and say, "I'm an alcoholic, and my life is crap". What I say is, "What a gift to be able to "live to good purpose", and be with other people who live in the solution, instead of the problem. Simple as that! All the best...Mark 5/8/1994

Thank you so much for content and teaching us about the steps. Last time I was in AA and got really stuck and confused on step 3 and dropped out. I'm going AA another try. I'm desperate and hurting so so bad. I mistreated really nice kind people who kept forgiving me and I keep making the same mistakes. I'm an angry drunk if I have too much I can't drink like other people or control my intake.

It's been 11 years of heavy drinking for me. And now from the last two days I am suffering from heavy Diarrhoea & this is not the first time I am suffering. Yes you are right. When I start drinking I have no control when to stop. Before beginning I am pretty sure that I will drink only a small amount but after I get buzzy there is no limit to my drinking 😢😢😢 I have spoilt many relations in my life due to this habit. Now I am married but if it goes the same way, it will end up very bad. And also there is a history of alcoholics in our family tree who have died due to this. I dont want to end up that way

When I was in High School and College I did not have a lot of friends. I often drank alone at home or went to Vegas, Mexico, National Parks, Spring Break, alone. I got into Insurance because as an insurance broker I could get involved in my community and help other people. Join the Chamber. Go to networking mixers at wineries, do the Young Professionals club and make new friends and do their events. Life is a lot better than it used to be socially. But now because I am older drinking has caused me to miss work, be in the hospital, detox and lose my car forgetting where I parked it and then the cops found it days later. But am I supposed to give up all my hard work to make the life I created to get sober? Am I really going to date sober, have no alcohol at my wedding!! Not have a real bachelors party? I am in a position that I can create my own Ski and beach trips. And for work I often friend new Business Friends for insurance by hanging out with them. Am I supposed to give up the fun life I created? It is hard. I am 37 days sober now but I am still going to do these things but I guess have moctails.

Like the apostle Paul said he was powerless over the laws command and when it said thou shalt not envy, it became more envy no matter how hard he tried and became miserable as a result. He surrendered and Jesus restored him. The idea of powerlessness is "I can't stop drinking, when the desire comes, you can't refuse the drink" so you saying just stop is bs. The second and third step is the answer to having power from above to stop less you say you stopped drinking on your own power and if you did then you were never truly a alki.
