Thanks Drawmer for yet another piece of amazing equipment, this will be my eighth unit of yours and I love them all. Great sounding and reliable pieces of gear that gets used daily. One thing tho, when will you guys open up the spare parts shop for customers outside the UK because dealers in Europe charge 20 euro for a 2 pound button, which is ridicules imo.

Congratulations on the great relation with Drawmer. They have allways made reliable gear punching way above their pricepoint. In the '80's and '90's their gear was found in every rack around the world. They have been building more advanced gear for decades helping out the independent musician to stand out. I love it that you have a great relationship with them and help their customers make an informed decision to purchase the right Drawmer gear for them.

This one makes me happy, almost bought the 1974 last week and now this one pops up right in time. Absolute perfectly on time for me, I’m definitely going to get this one ❤ perfect 👍🏼 By the way, thanks for the amazing demo, you use the right material for the demo but to be honest I would buy this without hearing it 👌🏼 Dual mono, stepped encoders and the extra crush is going to do the job. And affordable too, I’m stoked.

@@mixbustv Yeah, I love how it sounded also on kick and snare, the stepped pots are great for recalls. The sweepable filters are great and the crush is a versatile extra tool that seems really useful. I will probably use it mainly on my mixbus but definitely will try it on individual tracks as well. I have plenty of other Drawmer gear so I know how reliable they are. It’s not yet available in Europe so I can save some extra money to get it because I just bought a new bus-compressor last week. This one will neatly fill up my rack 👍🏼

I recently got a 1961 as well and it's fantastic. Very clean and punchy, but can be driven to get some sweet per-band dependent THD. Also got the 1973 multi band comp and just ordered the 1971. The Crush on the 1971 sound truly special! Thanks for a great demo David, I was sold soon as I heard the Crush.

@@falangistavaleroso9689 I've only got the 1973 so I can't really speak to their wideband compressors. But I really like the 1973, it's fantastic. It can be snappy and punchy but can also be smooth with the program dependent release settings. The air function is really nice to restore any high-end loss from the compression as well. Highly recommended!

Great review, and very tempting to get one. I can also recommend Drawmer's 1961 valve EQ which also sounds amazing. Btw, I wonder if the crush button has any effect when attenuating a band? PS: The bandwidth knob is not a "Q" value as said in the video, but measured in octaves, so the widest value is to the right side.

Thank you so much for this demo ! I'm intrigued (and quite disappointed) by the strange sound when you add the crush on the kick at 20:10. I see that on the right LEDs we are hitting red. Are you sure that this sound (which for me is not usable) is only caused by the "crush" and not because you simply overdriven the whole device ?
@mixbustvАй бұрын
You should have watched the whole video from the beginning. You'd have seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGO4coywo7Frf80 the the "red" is not overload, in fact we have a dedicated LED for that. I'm not overdriving anything at any point in the demo. At the beginning I've also said you need to be careful with saturating the low end, just like, you'd have with any other saturator for obvious reasons. A demo's purpose is to showcase both the usable range as well as the limits of a unit.

I can't stand when companies don't implement a "stereo link button." IF I'm running audio in stereo, I don't want to have to keep changing two sets of knobs and making sure everything is on the exact number(s)/values.
@mixbustv3 ай бұрын
You mean you don't want dual mono. If you don't have two sets of control you're losing the option to use one channel on one element and another channel on another element, like vocals and bass, or kick and snare. It's very weird to be unhappy about a feature that gives you more flexibility because you don't want to move 4 knobs. There's no such think as "stereo link" in analog. The only stereo link in analog without digital control is for the sidechain in compressors and you still have to move both sets.
@blvkqmusicgroup3 ай бұрын
@@mixbustv what I’m saying is I need the option for both. My RND MBP can be used as dual mono or in stereo; having ONE set of controls/knobs affect both channels at once. All I’m saying is give me that option. It’s preferred.

interesting. How would this EQ compare with the Drawmer 1961 Tube EQ?
@drawmer18783 ай бұрын
Tricky one. The 1971 is more accurate, and with a few more features, but obviously no valve sound. The 1961 had tubes in the signal path. The filters are far more precise on the 1971 though - we have much better test equipment nowadays :)

Yes it's patched already. I have a lot of eqs so I moved the 74 for now to the other studio and put this one in.
@adsertheblade3 ай бұрын
Ok, this is a bit much. With this and the IGS, you need to make a new comparison between the eqs like you did in the past. I would like a new eq, but the confusion is beyond my ability to work around now.
@mixbustv3 ай бұрын
I probably will but all the eqs I presented lately are in MASSIVELY different price ranges. So, that is the very first thing anyone needs to keep into account. This is $1800 USD, the IGS is $3800, the Wes is $6K. Two are tubes, one is solid state. It all depends what's your budget and even a comparison needs to be done in context of their respective price brackets. You can't just compare them like they're in the same basket
@adsertheblade3 ай бұрын
@mixbustv indeed, but sometimes one stretches further if the sound is right. Perhaps not as far as the Wes... but there are many customers out there with different budgets. Thanks for the work you do
