I generally make text boxes transparent. It's a matter of preference. I also chose no frame. That way the font and position can be changed with minimal obstruction from the background.

Hey There! great video. Question: Is there any way to speed up the refresh rate for that "speed" gauge you added to the display? I'm noting that needed moves slowly, like it's only refreshing once/second or so. Can the graphic update faster?

Yes, open up your tags then click Advanced at the top right and you'll see the update rate.

You make great videos! I have a question: What is the read speed of the system you are using? I noticed at 11:30 in the video when you first turn on the fan and observe the analog gauge, the needle seems to move up very slowly. Is that an accurate reflection of the fan speed? It seems like the fan gets to full speed much earlier than the HMI indicated. This leads me to question the data read rate of the system. In an application requiring very precise timing, this could be an issue. If you could enlighten me I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for making these videos! I'm a mechanical engineer teaching myself how to be a controls engineer and your videos have helped me tremendously! Keep up the good work!

Hi Isaac. The default sample rate is 100ms which is probably what it was set on. I just had the acceleration of the drive set at its default which is high so it takes a while to get to speed.

Programming a Panelview 800, I have a maintained push button programmed on a screen 1. I copied and pasted it to screen 2. Could you please explain to me how to tie these push buttons together so when activated on screen 1 it's activated on screen 2.

It should work as long as the tags of the two buttons are the same.

I checked that because of the copy and paste, write tags are equal. I noticed in the properties window at the top one is labeled push button_43 and the other is push button_45 so I changed the name so they were equal and when validating I receive an error. @@TimWilborne

The device name would still need to be unique. Only the tag names need to be the same.

Nice video. Yourself or someone else is going to be cussing when you go to commission this project and client asks for the background color to be changed for some reason. Like the ambient lighting where the HMI is mounted and changing the brightness or contrast just isn’t feasible enough. and they go to change just the background color and realize 🤬 every single text box and widget has to be modified also. lol Or client asks for the text to be enlarged. And you goto enlarge the font just a little and load the project and🤬 the text box background clips off the edges of the text adjacent to it. Same goes for widgets. Im not saying their was necessarily anything wrong with the way you did it. But if people get in a habit of using transparent backgrounds unless they specifically want a different color they will find their work flow is more efficient and a lot of the time produce cleaner looking UI’s. Just a thought.

You could use a STRING variable or a multistate indicator with different text for different values of an integer.
