@@AnalogKitchen I usually never mention other music on someone's channel yet I just kinda need to here. Search on youtube "Kx5 EDC Las Vegas 2022". This music(melodic techno) is absurdly beloved around the world, and you should check that out I think, if you have not already seen it. Kascade and Deadmau5 on the same stage. And damn...such a throwback sound going on. Melodic techno never left, yet now it is trending and evolving like woah.

@@AnalogKitchen The crowd's organic reaction to watching someone make their techno live is giving me chills. You can feel that they know they are listening to the real person give them a real set of music they are crafting live. It's magic.

That's a great video! I really enjoyed hearing about your tips from 2:32 👍 One question about the workflow with the mixer. You're overdriving all the channels at fader level, right? I am talking about pushing all faders to the +10 position and setting the volume relations with the gain knob. I have seen this before, not only with performing artists in electronic music like Paul Kalkbrenner or Octave One, but also from FoH mixers for regular bands. I understand that you gain a little more ease for performance reasons, just like with DJ mixers where the top fader position mostly represents 0 dB instead of the common +10dB we have with production mixers. But then all channels will have this 10db-lift even when you don't really need this. So gain staging is a little funky, mostly with the result of a higher noisefloor, is that correct? On the other hand, some mixers sound sound nice when being overdriven, but I'd want that on purpose rather than with this +10dB on EVERY channel. I'd really love to hear your input on this 🤓

Just got an ERM Multiclock. One of my favorite features is the ability to turn on/off sequencers on measure boundaries, like what you're doing in the 'Bringing it all Together' section at kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn7YXpSPfMt6h68.

Like Ableton Live for your hardware machinery :-) I also like the "Channel Dividers" feature lately. See page 13 in the manual -> e-rm.de/data/E-RM_multiclock_manual_EN.pdf

Random question, I see your rd-8 and I'm currently in the process of picking my first Analog drum machine and can't decide between the RD-8 and RD-9. My 80's DJ'ing history defaults to the RD-8 but my ears and 90's house keep taking me back to the RD-9. Need input and which would be better for a first machine. Love the sound of the RD-9 but the 5 extra sounds the RD-8 has (cow bell) will be missed. Help?

Well. Do u want to make Kraftwerk, Mantronix, Afrika Bambataa style tracks or do you want to make more Inner City, Derrick May kind sound. One can be more electro and one can be more techno/house. Let me know what you chose. Consider using samples first and recreate some of the above mentioned samples and see what feels natural to you
@alsoknownasTheo2 жыл бұрын
@AnalogKitchen Kraftwerk, Man Parrish, Africa Bambataa would be Incredible and fun but Inner city, Derrick May, Jaydee, Chris Stussy, ATB would be more in line of my current focus. Which leads me to the RD-9. I want something stand alone away from needing a computer.

@AnalogKitchen when you brought up looking at samples first i started looking at the MPC live, or is that overkill for a beginner?
