Another great video Lucien! I love the fact there is more emphasis on getting the basics of a track down, improvising and looking into what works - and fast. You have a really good workflow that is not clouded by too much depth of the technical stuff. I love how you keep things simple. Keep up the good work, really appreciated!

Yooo! Glad you dig it! You know I’m a firm believer in getting results fast. It’s always possible to make stuff more advanced. But that’s best worked from a simple foundation

I just spent the recent holiday cleaning out my sample library and organizing. I feel 10 pounds lighter. I actually find that all I really need is one sample pack at any given time. Yalcin Efe makes great techno packs with current Serum and Diva sounds. As does Zen World. More than enough to find the right sound or at least get inspired. Actually, I find having too many presets and samples becomes restrictive.

Agree 100%. keep some sounds as a backup of stuff you know. And do the live stuff on top of it. You even get the bet results out of the sounds you create! Thanks for watching!

I'd love to see the video on drum sound design also incorporate your ideas about making a SET of sounds that work together... proper overlapping, transients and EQ by design.

Great video as usual!! Buddy I have this issue when improvising and trying to make a track; I can't figure out how to structure the patterns, or which sounds should I add, and also I dont know what patterns or note progression I should use for a bassline? I'd appreciate if you could do a video on one of those things! Cheers man love your content!!

Hi Andy. Actually, I did multiple videos on most of those subjects. bass videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3XSpZmOmdd5qMU kzbin.info/www/bejne/i369h6Gvgs9jlZo kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmLWc5eihZxqrrs. Or get on my Patreon, where I respond and get in deeper on subjects as well! Thanks for watching

After checking out the videos he mentions, I've been going back and listening to the live sets he's posted (some of the first on his channel) and listening specifically for the structures he discusses. It is extra nice that his tutorial videos are using the same samples as his live sets do, so when they come up they help reinforce the structure in your mind.

Great work, and thanks again! What does the DI do to the kick?

Hi Lorenzo. It adds some harmonics and some flavor to the sound. As I don’t eq anything, this is an analog way of getting your sound to sit right instead of emphasizing certain frequency bands.

Yo Lucien! Very informative as usual! I’d like to master this frequency subject but with my chaotic workflow i start something and nobody knows how it can be finished or where is going to take me... so i get muddy stuff and need to clean it after. Part of the process that entertains a lot by the way 😀 Cheers brother!!

with sound design I always struggle with lack of sidechain capabilities to maintain my kick cutting thru the mix (except lfo and velocity tricks) do you achieve clean spectrum just with gain staging or do you have something here I am missing? Please share your secret.

It is a trick to find the correct levels indeed. Work your filters more and try to emphasise what’s really important to hear. Thanks for watching
