Great finale to the Action Force series. Its a good thing you took your time to properly & correctly present each segment, giving each section equal time. I also appreciate that you've ALWAYS been Objective in ALL your videos. Again, the British take on the New Shadows is superior to the way DDP ever did when they had the Joe license (no wonder Hasbro Disavowed their entire output). The Z Force is essentially the 'open' military side of G.I. Joe & S.A.S. is the covert/spec ops arm. Nice! Quarrel's a revised Scarlett. In G. I. Joe lore, the R.A.M. (RApid Fire Motorcycle) is strictly Rock 'n Roll's ride, just as the later Silver Mirage Turbo Motorcycle is Lady Jaye's. The aborted Mobile Command Center seems better than the G. I. Joe version (which seemed based after a Star Wars Jawa Sandcrawler). The one flaw of both the Joe and Action Force HQs was that it lacked rear wall panels.

I had a Captain back in the day. My aunt had bought it on a swamp sale. The thought he was a star wars figure and I was quite puzzled when she gave it to me. I knew it was no star wars figure, but I added him to the collection and made him a kind of rebel commander. It was always difficult to find him, when I was done playing in the backyard. His camo was to good :-D

That was great Tony, thanks! The ATC and the command centre are awesome! I was firmly entrenched in Star Wars toys, and I was a little older when the G.I Joe figures came out in the U.S. I admired the line, but wasn’t interested. I had to collect Star Wars toys. Thanks for sharing man!

GI Joe was for me as a kid the ultimate toy. I loved it. My little brother and I had just gobs of them. We played with them for so long that when we got board with GI Joe we began to play Post nuclear apocalypse / Road warrior with all of the trucks and wheeled vehicles. I had no idea that many of the toys had been given the Lend Lease treatment to our brothers across the pond. This is a fantastic video. Its really interesting to see the two companies design and marketing choices with the vehicles and figures. The stories for the characters and how the toys interacted with one another. I have to say I like the Action Force camo and uniformity a little better than the Joe's which always were a polyglot of colors and patterns. Only much later did Hasbro decide to theme the figures and vehicles when they would do repaints of older toys. I like that look much better. Thank you for showing these.

@boblowes4 жыл бұрын
I think the reason I always preferred the original Palitoy Action Force (as opposed to the repainted GI Joe line it became), is that unlike the vast majority of GI Joe, Action Force felt like a cohesive army. You never get that feeling with GI Joe - all the figures wear completely different uniforms, and there's no structure - something no real army would allow - whereas Action Force has everyone in themed uniforms and distinct, themed military units. The irony of this, is that originally, GI Joe had its figures in matching, realistic military olive green, whereas Action Force was simply a scaled down version of the most popular individual Acton Man figures and uniforms. But by sticking with the themed units, Action Force really developed a realistic military - and that was always fun to collect for and play with. It's a crying shame that General Mills were unable to recognise the unique space Action Force occupied in the UK and in Europe. And yes, we got some fantastic GI Joe figures and vehicles going forward, but it was always the Palitoy Action Force I was drawn to. And if you're listening, Hasbro - yes, I would like a Black Series-style line of Action Force figures - and this time, we'll take multi-point articulation. But no O-Rings, thank you.
@TheNightBadger4 жыл бұрын
@Lassi Kinnunen In the UK GI Joe was originally released under the pre-existing title of 'Action Force', because that was how the earliest Joe figures had been released. So when Palitoy folded, rather than launch 'GI Joe', Hasbro just kept the name 'Action Force'. Then later, they rebranded it briefly to 'GI Joe - The Action Force', then by the end of the 80's / early 90's, just 'GI Joe'. So for most of the 80's, GI Joe was just branded Action Force, even when the toys / comics had nothing to do with the original Palitoy Action Force line. I imagine a lot of Continental European Joe stuff just used the UK branding for convenience.

Good to know that Coco wasn't the only one and Internationally The Baron Ironblood was also *getting the shaft* Also it's a shame Hasbro didn't follow through with returning the Palitoy favor by "borrowing" inspiration from a figure/character from Hasbro, Goucho in particular....in name only as the Hasbro Joe character would of had a much shorter mustache and doubled as a silent film star....File Name: Laural Hardy Jr Code Name: *Groucho* I love these Action Force reviews.

G.I. Joe figures were DEFINITELY superior to Star Wars figures on the play value front (SW playsets and vehicles OTOH were a pretty good match to Joe). Star Wars characters tend to have timeless and memorable looks/design though. As for Action Force, there is definitely some nice looking stuff in the line, but I wonder if they would have updated the 5 point articulated characters with using Joe molds as the Joe line's library of sculpts continued. It would be fascinating to see a video about some of the later U.K. exclusive Joes like the international Tiger Force, Mutt, and Spirit that kinda feel like spiritual successors to Action Force.

Absolutely fantastic video and what a collection!! I had some Action Force stuff as a kid, (but I always preferred Action Man). I used to cross over with my Star Wars stuff and have battles. The figures were compatible and I think I actually had the SAS Trooper piloting a Snowspeeder at one point!! Personally, I always thought the Action Forces figures were better quality than the Star Wars figures. I love your videos, Tony... a real trip down a memory lane of when toys were proper toys!! How I wish I still had all that stuff now. Little did we know eh?

My Captain Grant Campbell figure had a Mauser rifle and ammo box. I always thought he looked the spitting image of Lewis Collins. The Sapper was also supposed to be the sniper so it was weird he had an M60? A strange aspect of Battle Action Force was that it always depicted the Z-force infantryman as the Sapper?

i didnt stop playing with action figures until about 86 or 87 when i was a freshman or sophomore in high school, in 90 i graduated and immediately started collecting action figures when i stumbled onto a used collecting store in a local flea market. not knowing such shops were actually a thing i was instantly hooked when i saw nice condition examples of my favorite childhood figure that i had beat to hell and instantly wanted to replace them , as well as the opportunity to get the figured i had wanted as a child but didnt received. so for years all through the 90s every weekend i would go to the shop and check out what new inventory had come in, he always kept a large box of loose figures that you could dig through and get pretty cheap if you saw something you wanted. one day i was digging through it and found a pretty cool what i thought was some diving figure in all black that i didnt recognize at all and just assumed it was probably from one of those Remco knockoff lines. a few years later in about the mid 90s i was in his shop and saw the coolest looking red stormtrooper or something looking figure. i asked him what it was and he told me its a Red Shadow from Action Force, that was the first time i had ever seen a Red Shadow or heard of action force. i had to wait about another 5 years till i got my first computer in 2000 before i could finally look Action Force up and start learning about it, at which point i found out that black diver figure i had had all that time was an Action Force Squad Leader, and the mystery green soldier i had also found years earlier in that random loose figure box was an Action Force sapper figure. and then i learned about the awesome Quarrel repaint of one of my favorite Joes, and finally i earned about the totally cool looking Baron Iron blood and other bad guys and knew i needed them to go with my lone Red Shadow. so you dont need to convince me of anything, Action force are awesome.
