FYI the problem with SD cards and USB sticks could be MBR vs GPT partition tables. If it didn't read, it's likely that card is using the GPT partition table and needs to be switched to MBR.

I'll purchase now. I only buy the consoles for the jailbreak, as i have MiSTer. I bet they get more sales now. No one is going to pay $250 for a console they already have a hard time finding games for, and those games are expensive. Jailbreak makes sense. Good on Analogue.

Hi, I also have a MiSTer, what would be the difference with this console, besides the fact that with this one you can insert the original cartridges?

@@salvatorecanciello1926 Nothing really. The only advantage of Analogue consoles (over MISTer) is the ability to insert cartridges (and now CD's.) The original hardware is aging, so I guess there's that. I like to collect the consoles, and with the jailbreak, it can kind of justify the price. I was never the biggest fan of the TurboGrafx, but I do like it, though.

Fpga will always be more accurate than emulation. I have a mister so no need for a duo for me

That is just not true. Accuracy completely depends on the implementation of the core. Most FPGA cores are based off emulators and inherit their flaws. It is true that a well implemented FPGA core is going to be better than an emulator running on a cheap ARM SOC but saying an emulator running on a high end gaming PC cannot be completely cycle accurate is garbage. FPGA is great, but it is no magic bullet, the cores are only as good as the implementation. Saying FPGA will always be more accurate than emulation is a ridiculous statement to make. Plus the fact that FPGA is emulation, it's just a different kind of emulation than software emulation.

FPGA's greatest attribute is allowing for the use of real hardware instead of ROMs.

If that’s true, then they really botched the emulation of this old console on the Mini. Pretty sure if someone made a video of the same games running on a 10 year old laptop using Beetle PCE versus an Analog Duo, no normal person on earth would be able to tell the difference.

I just got my Duo. I updated the firmware and then I did the hack. After I did the hack the volume of the games went done quite a lot. It is actually pretty annoying. Could I have done something wrong while installing the hack? I have uninstalled and reinstalled it three times and I am still having problems. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Everdrive Pro still has its advantages over the jailbreak, such as save states and cheats. I was expecting a bit more from this jailbreak, and I wonder if we will ever get the openFPGA on the Duo, as that would make it the ultimate FPGA home console. MiSTer doesn't quite count as a console 😀, even though I love the freakin thing. PS: because I still haven't received my duo and I bought a bunch of games and an Everdrive Pro for it, I got a Core Grafx for the time being and I am planning on getting a Terraonion Super System HD 3 for it, just for fun and comparison, because I like the original hardware of the PC Engine Core Grafx. This one and a modded Gameboy DMG are the only pieces of original retro hardware that I own, everything else is Analogue and MiSTer.

I have a question for you. I am looking for a couple of options. What I want to play is arcade, Commodore 64, intellivision, Blitz etc. but mainly those 4. I am looking for a possible arcade setup, console or handheld. I want something that’ll run fairly fast. Any recommendations?

I don't see this going beyond the NEC cores. Analogue has generally only allowed similar grouped cores, which make sense to the system. Such as with the Mega Sg having SG-1000, GG, SMS, GEN, and a bonus ColecoVision (which basically an SG-1000 in design). The Duo is fine, but I'd still buy a Pocket if you are looking for other cores. It covers nearly every mainstream 8-bit and 16-bit console/portable, and so much more. (It just got a Vectrex core this week).

I couldn’t get mine to work at all. The firmware installed, but any game I try to run only leads to a black screen and frozen console. I also had issues when I tried to do this with the NT. Either the class 2 card I’m using is too slow, or the fact that I’m using a Mac is somehow an issue.

This seems a new problem, just saw a few people mention this today. I didnt have that issue, but its also been a while since I did the Jailbreak. When I have some time I will double check things on mine, but all I can suggest at this time is to check audio settings in the menu, or go back to original firmware and see if the problem persists and perhaps try the jail break again. Wish I had some solid answers, but If I find anything out I will reply.

The jailbreak messed up the volume on my Duo. I am now only getting about half of the volume (if that) as I did prior to the jailbreak. Is there a fix for this?

@@NoEscape459 It is easy enough to go back to the Analogue firmware. The volume drop that I have been experiencing is maybe a 40% drop. I just have to crank my volume up higher. Then I need to remember to lower it again before I turn something else on. Otherwise I scare the crap out of myself!

Seems a lot of games, particularly Japanese region .pce files, don't work. I've tried games from various sets but had the same result. All of the US .pce files I tried (30+) worked fine. CD games have also been working fine so far, but out of dozens of JP region .pce files I tried only a couple worked. These same files play fine on Analogue Pocket. I'm assuming there's a very specific set I need?

I have the exact same issue except most of my (U) designation games won't boot. One thing Pixel glossed over is his games skipped the "play" screen. Some do while some don't on mine. I think the jailbreak is in need of a fix as it is all over the place in terms of being able to boot games.

I'm having the same issue you did with the system just refusing to recognize the firmware file. I've removed the old firmware from the SD card and added the contents of the folder to the root like you did but it boots straight to the main menu. Anyone else having the same problem?

Maybe it's just me, but the Analogue Duo seems to be the worst piece of hardware they've released. Between the power issues that get the disc stuck in the drive, Everdrive problems, the subpar Analogue OS, and not having Open FPGA, I think it's a pass. I'm glad it got a jailbreak, though 🥳
