These analysis videos fit in well with the best coaching videos on youtube. As a tennis coach, these videos are excellent. I'll just add that when discussing Schwartzman's backhand you mention that the two-hander struggles with the higher balls, and I think this should be mentioned in comparison with the one-hander which tends to struggle even more with the high balls, and can break down more easily (as we see in all the matches between Federer and Nadal on clay). Schwartzman being shorter than most top players also makes it neccesary for him to adapt so well to the higher balls to compete.

Just try the same swing, you'll find that its a really very cool shot, I often play sharp cross-court angles in that way to get my opponent in a weak position from where I can get the point easy.

Sinner's backhand should have been in the list as well. The guy generates the maximum topspin.

Yeah I was also looking for it. I got disappointed
@hritabratalahiri48524 жыл бұрын
True AM. I couldn't agree with you more. I am arguing his case because statistically Sinner is the player who tops the list on tour when it comes to generating topspin on the backhand side. Since this video is pertaining to two handed backhands I genuinely feel the young Italian should've featured in it.

One thing those with double handers have over single handers is on the return. Especially high to that single backhand on clay. RF only has one option to chip that back into play, which always gave the imitative to get that first strike in on the second shot. Novak has that over RF.

Such a great and varied selection here. Love Fognini's golf swing backhand, Nishikori's simplicity and Goffin's precision. All very different techniques, and all devastating.
@boriskostic69644 жыл бұрын
Murrays lob isnt his only strength his backhand is very solid and he can generate huge amount of power when he is relaxed. Djokovics backhand down the line is the trademark shot and no one does it better than him. I found it weird not to ad him in that category but sertainly his backhand on the pressure is the best backhand in tennis
@akbarshahzad57803 жыл бұрын
His DTL might be the most consistent, but when on fire there are plenty who can match it -- Goffin, Nishikori, Zverev, Paire, Fognini, plus Nalbandian and Agassi of course among the older lot. But stretched out and defending? No one can touch him.

Another thing that zverev does with his backhand is where he starts with it. If you look at other players, they start below their waist or at it. Zverev brings it up at his shoulder and then follows through resulting in far more power than anyone else's two handers.

I would say Djokovic's backhand is great because an addition of many factors: foot work, power, precision, creativity, work under pressure, mentality (havind the crowd against you and still works), flexibility, resistence, more and more!
@echika33794 жыл бұрын
Nadal has the best two handed backhand shot. Flat or loop shot - Nadal's backhand is very dangerous. When he loops, it's mostly to the opponents backhand and they have a hard time doing much with it - they either attempt a weak backhand volley or have to spend more time to run around the backhand use to their forehand to hit a more powerful shot. It happened a lot in the 2020 French open final. Djokovic in the match, with loops going to his backhand resorted sometimes to ineffective drop shots.

Looks like Medvedev uses a whole load of left arm to me. Also, I'm not convinced that Fognini 'falls to the side' and so it's 'difficult to recover'; it looks like he squares up with his left leg like everyone else (and sometimes he doesn't bother recovering).
@asingh112-e5h3 жыл бұрын
Yes, when you have a two handed it is ideal to mostly use your left, but they’re that meddy uses his right more than most. Also, Fabio does fall slightly to side and even that slight change in balance can lose you a point in the pro leagues.
