Masahiro Ito basically debunked the whole idea of the lying figure representing a straight jacket, he said instead the monster design and movement is meant to mimick a person trapped inside a corpse bag.

Even worse, thanks for making that foul thing even more disturbing.

Great video, but it's REALLY dark! The monster designer originally got the idea for the straight jacket enemies when he saw his friend walking down the street, in a hoodie, listening to music, walking in a "cool way" with his hands in his hoodies pocket. Not the in universe explanation of course, but an interesting bit of trivia.
@C64_Mat Жыл бұрын
Aaaaaand you covered that in a previous video 😂

Thanks, Mat Cooper🙂 I do recall the designer getting the inspiration from his colleague in a hoodie, on the documentary DVD that came with the game. And it is a very cool bit of trivia👍

So you’re telling me that every enemy in the game is to do with James wanting to bang his wife again, Mary being verbally abusive and that she wasn’t able to walk due to her illness. Just those 3 things for EVERY enemy
@istanknowledgereason1561Ай бұрын
Well.. except for the abstract daddy. That actually had nothing to do with James and was Angela's manifestation of her abuse. But everything else, yeah. What's wrong? That's how Silent Hill works 🤷♂ It's a magical town that materializes the trauma of whoever enters it.(Which is why the little girl runs around carelessly and isnt targeted by monsters. In her mind all she sees is rainbows and butterflies lol)
@TakodaGamingАй бұрын
@@istanknowledgereason1561 yeah I get that but surely there could be more manifestations than just 3 simple things
@armintor2826Ай бұрын
@@TakodaGaming theres a lot of interpretation to their designs. Like the vomiting enemies could be viewed as a representation of James' bondage to Mary, as he began to resent her for her illness; seeing her as a burden and something that was blocking him from moving on. The creature's restrained body can be a manifestation of that feeling of limitation cause by Mary.

I would definitely do SH 4, as I like this game as much as the others. But sadly, I don't have this game and they're really expensive as they're getting more rare to find, but I'm still looking out for any good offers. This, as well as SH Origins🙂

You have to check out Silent Hill 2 remake. It's really good. There are otherworld versions of Lying Figure and the nurses. You will also like the new mannequin variant called spider mannequin.

Dang, the original monsters definitely seemed to hit different than in the remake for sure. They looked way more creepy and disturbing for some reason. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the graphics, the models, and the surrounding atmosphere though.

You know...at any point, the guy could just..."interact" with the many females enemy, but choose to whack them with a stick instead to dead...instead. Is this another symbolism with how the guy kills his wife?

This is one of the reasons why I won't play Silent Hill. Everything has to be sexual 50%of it's monsters has a sexual aspect to it. This is DEPRAVITY,thiis is EVIL!!
@jackraiden11027 ай бұрын
To be fair, that only applies to the second game. The enemies in the first game were manifestations of one characters fears and traumas. The second game features two characters where the manifestations either came from abuse or frustration of a sexual nature. The third game once again returns to the type of ene.ies of the first with the addition of enemies based around the main character.
@jackraiden11027 ай бұрын
It's also prudent to note most of the manifestations based around James in the second game are related to his wife's circumstance. Most of the perversions come from people reading as deep as they can into it.

@@MaryMDoyle as a brief rebuttal, only one of the games has that as a primary focus. Ironic that you discuss what can't be unseen when you seem not to have seen the 10+ games in the series.
