Plenty of thanks for this analysis! It helps to go underneath the very skin of this intriguous and charming controlled entartaining called a game. The streets weren't so frightening for me, when being a teen I played in, while the school was something, where all the nightmares only began.

23:15 I'll never forget when I first saw images of the Lying Figure in an issue of Game Informer back in 2000, I swore they were these guys returning but being hostile this time and we'd actually get to fight them lol. I remember these things creeping me out in the first game, so I was excited at the idea of fighting them in a sequel. The Lying Figure(referred to as the "Patient Demon" around those times) always reminded me of this bodies in the first/third game.

You say she was trying to kill Harry, but when she does confront him and uses her power on him, she didn't kill him. She was trying to slow him down, yet I don't believe wanted to take his life. He was the one person she knew was good at heart.
@SalopianGamer9 күн бұрын
You make some good points here. These are only theories I put up for discussion. Though I don't believe she wants to harm Harry either, call it a desperate final act of stopping Harry. He did have the Flarous in his possession by the time Alessa confronts him, which would of protected him from harm anyway, and nullify Alessa's powers.

I remeber being blown away by the graphics of sh2. Now i cant help but hate the push for fidelity and the 5+ year waits for games that dont have a 10th of the atmosphere of creepy ps1 games.

@gorrack10281987 Agreed absolutely. There's too much emphasis on graphics and too little on story and the like.

Another small reference, when you try to purchase the Mine Thrower, the merchant says "Not only will you need cash, but you'll need guts to buy that weapon". This is a reference to the Berserk manga and anime, Guts being the main character who has a prosthetic steel arm that acts as a cannon, when Leon equips the mine thrower, he wields it in a similar pose and fashion as Guts. RE4 is also similar to Berserk in how the main character fights religiously occult like enemies who transform into demonic and gory monsters, while also fighting to protect the cliche damsel in distress, ADDITIONALLY, without any major spoilers going deeper, Leon and Ashley are both injected with the plaga, just like how both Guts and Casca are branded with a demon symbol and are fighting off the monsters who are trying to make them become one of them. Major mirroring between the two series.

Dang, the original monsters definitely seemed to hit different than in the remake for sure. They looked way more creepy and disturbing for some reason. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the graphics, the models, and the surrounding atmosphere though.

10-yr-old me was tricked into playing this game a long, long time ago. Big mistake. I didn't get that far into it, but when the siren went off and I got attacked by those knife-wielding child monsters, I noped out. I turned off the game and gave it back to whoever wanted me to play it in the first place.

What makes Resident Evils zombies so terrifying, even more than other zombie media is that the victims of the T-Virus are technically still living. There are a couple of instances in Code Veronica, and RE 3 that break that lore a little bit, but still, the zombies aren't really corpses in a literal sense despite being pretty much as close to a corpse as a person could get without being dead. The transformation of humans slowly deteriorating into rotting, brain dead, flesh eating monsters is horrific, and Resident Evil was the first piece of media to craft their zombies in such a way. It seperated the series from the George Romero zombie lore while still keeping the core essence of the B movie zombie film intact. The dev team of the first RE game carved out their own niche that was every bit as important as what the legendary George Romero achieved with his films. That's difficult to achieve in film making, let alone a video game with very little to go off of from other games that came before it. It also being an early 3 dimensional game on a brand new console added even more significance to what RE did for gaming. It really set the bar for developers making the most out of hardware limitations.

So you’re telling me that every enemy in the game is to do with James wanting to bang his wife again, Mary being verbally abusive and that she wasn’t able to walk due to her illness. Just those 3 things for EVERY enemy
@istanknowledgereason156128 күн бұрын
Well.. except for the abstract daddy. That actually had nothing to do with James and was Angela's manifestation of her abuse. But everything else, yeah. What's wrong? That's how Silent Hill works 🤷♂ It's a magical town that materializes the trauma of whoever enters it.(Which is why the little girl runs around carelessly and isnt targeted by monsters. In her mind all she sees is rainbows and butterflies lol)
@TakodaGaming28 күн бұрын
@@istanknowledgereason1561 yeah I get that but surely there could be more manifestations than just 3 simple things
@armintor282621 күн бұрын
@@TakodaGaming theres a lot of interpretation to their designs. Like the vomiting enemies could be viewed as a representation of James' bondage to Mary, as he began to resent her for her illness; seeing her as a burden and something that was blocking him from moving on. The creature's restrained body can be a manifestation of that feeling of limitation cause by Mary.

Fantastic video. Wasn’t a rehash of the “well-known” Easter eggs. You went above and beyond on the depth on each one. For example: the Joker Mannequin visitation, I had no idea more than one moved. Or the Thomas Elliot whiteboard, but going into the patients. Even the Dr. Cloney one!

The cat haunting is in reference to the event described in a note where the neighbour with guns had enough of his cat allergies going off so he converted one of his fake guns into a real one and shot the old lady's cat dead. In her grief, she wrapped it in a pair of jeans (taken from the tortured creepy guy who writes to nurse Rachel, forgot his name) and put it in the fridge. Too bad this note also has first timers looking for the converted gun lol. The picture isn't Walter smiling, it's legit a picture of his dead, decaying corpse 😨 followed by the conjurer's cry. The ghost is surrounded by what seems to be corpse fluid.

Komodo Dragon rank here. How come Octocon and snake are leaving the base? Is that after a second playthrough? I left with Meryl.
@SalopianGamerАй бұрын
Depends on the player's choice in the Ocelot interrogation part of the game. If Snake quits the torture scene instead of going through with it before escaping, then the Otacon ending happens.
