Perfect execution of technique by both guys round 1. Devon did exactly what he needed to do for his game plan, and Levan did the same. Levan saved his back pressure and outside chain by choosing to flop press, rather than trying to finish outside from this position. It set him up for an easier victory in the later rounds. Props to Devon for doing as well as he did round 1. Also props to that dude in the back trying to keep it together lol

I mean, it is obvious that Levan let Devon have too much in the first round. As Devon hangs off of his bicep, he looks down at his hand, confused. "He shouldn't have been able to stop me." Then he pulls back real hard and changes to a press. Because that was the only move forward. I don't think any other technique would have won the round. Levan could have just given Devon the round, but he wasn't gonna do that. So, flop press it is.
@Maestro_Hulk5 ай бұрын
I totally agree with everything you said but we have to remember Levan was worried about hurting his wrist again coming back from an injury. When you have a big injury, even when you come back after it's healed it's very difficult to have total control, confidence and strength in that area again as instinctively the body and the subconscious mind holds back in that area to avoid reinjury. Even if consciously you aren't concerned anymore about the injury. So in conclusion Devon did an incredible job to attack Levan's wrist and hold him for a while but once Levan got the confidence and blood flowing in his wrist he crushed him.

Wrong. Engin has the 100% correct analysis. In rounds 2-4, Devon had much weaker back pressure and less pronation. And Devon completely lost his riser in rounds 2-4 because Levan started to post hard with his back pressure before going sideways. Confidence had nothing to do with this, it was strength.

But when Levan saw Devon wasn't attacking and was just holding him, he decided to just go ahead and end it. Levan is in his own tier, and I see only a few monsters that might challenge him over the next handful of years.

If Levan attacked he would lose his wrist before he got the pin, which was way too risky. So he got in a good shoulder position and gave up his wrist in order to flip press. It was a very smart move and Devon didn’t expect him to press, even if he did idk what he could do about it.

@@Nuggs9173 Just my take here, but you seem to be describing how Levan wasn't really trying. As you said, when Levan decided to press that was it. Why would anyone complain about Devon beating Tsvetkov, it shows Devon is an anomaly. Devon getting beaten by 180kg Levan is expected. This match being close doesn't rely on the competitors being fair and level, but Devon being an even bigger anomaly and it didn't happen. If we setup all armwrestling matches in this fashion, hoping that magic will give us a good match, we'd have bad, onesided matches 99% of the time. @@dfg12382 , wrong. 1. Beating a heavier/bigger opponent is a normal thing in every sport. It happens all the time. Devon is not the anomaly, Levan is. 2. Levan is not the "biggest" armwrestler. Yet they didn't evem come close to Levan's strength level. TLDR: it's not just about the "mass", it's about "mass+raw muscle strength+strength of tendons and ligaments". Top notch analysis Engin but Devons homework was flawed, he had the time to bulk up but did not, how can you even expect to win when your opponent eats and breaths armwrestling and has 33%+ more mass? huge mistake

0:33 that moment Devon realised he will never gonna beat Levan... ever !

About 120 pounds and Devon decided to try his chance to become the absolute best in the world.

@@Engin_Terzi oh! sorry for the mistake, yes I see that point of view. Devon knew what he was getting himself into and gave it his best effort. Much respect to both athletes and thank you for your dedication the sport Engin, I wish you many happy years.

@@seancopley499thank you my friend, i wish you the same. Yes Devon was already the Superheavyweight champion and he had to pull Levan to defend his title

If Devon got serious about putting on weight he would have a chance, at that weight it's almost impossible to beat Levan

That first round actually gave the devon fan girls even more delusional hope he could pull out the win 😂
