I learned so much from this. I never thought about adding the birth of children into the parent's timeline. That makes so much sense though. Thank you.

Good lesson! Case in point - my sister's birth certificate is incorrect. (she was born in 1941). Our mother, Doris was listed as Dorothy, which is my sister's name. So just bc it's an official document doesn't mean it's correct!

It's certainly true that records can include incorrect details at times, hence it's a good idea to look for multiple records and other sources to confirm information. If you come across different dates and spelling variations between records you can add all of these into your family tree on Ancestry, as alternative facts.
