Thank you for the fantastic video. I have three questions for you: 1) What is the distance between the interior surface of each bolt head and bolt nut? Is this distance exactly equal to the thickness of the plate + the thickness of the column flange or not? 2) What is the difference between the diameter of the bolt shaft and the diameter of the bolt hole? Does the bolt shaft have smaller diameter or it is exactly equal to the diameter of the bolt hole? 3) What will you do if the bolt is passing through 3 thicknesses (Double shear plate)? Do you still apply the pretension force at 50 percent or not?
@arsitech-ltd5 жыл бұрын
Dear, 1. Yes, the bolt flange = thickness of plates in between. However, it should have some tolerance if u modelling things more exactly. 2. Bolt shank surface and plate hole having tolerance. 3. Bolt pretension produce tension in shank actually..number of plates will not affect its position. Pretension should be apply on mid untill shank area is constant.

Nice work sir, the way you explain things are clear and good. Thank you for your efforts. Sir, I am working on the metal cutting operation (machining), I have a problem in defining the interaction module. (contact definition between cutter body and insert). At first, I considered the insert and the cutter body together as a rigid body and the simulation went smoothly without any problem. But in the case of deformable-body, I created a "tie" constraint between insert in order to make a rigid contact between insert and cutter body. And I have gave a "coupling" constraint for both insert and cutter body to a reference point which is in the central axis of the cutter body in order to give rotation and translation to the cutter body. at this moment I am facing few errors, the analysis is getting aborted with few errors. So my question is can I use tie constraint and couple constraint together? Thank very much for your time

Hi, how do you do? I would like to ask for a problem solving in Abaqus, that I haven’t been able to find in the web in general nor in YT. The statement of the problem I’m looking for is a pretty common one I guess, and it is a structure with a pre-tension in the cables, such as in a cable bracing or the ropes for stabilizing an antenna mast. The most similar thing I’ve found is bolt force, or node displacement in an intermediate step, or cooling a part of the wire as a step, but it’s not what I’m actually trying to simulate. Nor is the prestressed of wires in concrete. Any help on the matter will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
@arsitech-ltd Жыл бұрын
Dear, For such pretension loads you need to make presentation in step 1 then in step 2 use it for your next loacase.

@@arsitech-ltd Thank you very much. I'll give it a try since I don't handle much of this software. Not asking for a second answer, but I just mention an initial doubt I get is if in that way that you mention I can make the force interactive with the deformation, since it's not an external constant load; you know what I mean. Anyway, thanks again. Saludos.

Dear Sir...Thanks for a great video..I doubt something...based on your simulation,seems that the bolt shank and plate hole share a similar diameter.In this regard,u have applied element based surface fr contact interaction. Yet,based on actual cond. they are differ in diameter(normally 2mm gap tolerance).Thus,for this case do I need to apply "contact element" for the interaction surface. Further, under contact element which one should I chose either "gap contact element" or tube to tube contact element". Thanks in advance Sir.

Dear, if it is small tolerance then no extra introduction technique/element required.

@@arsitech-ltd Thanks..I have another question regarding step. I still unclear on how the step is work in abaqus. By refering ur video, u have assigned 2 steps which is pretension bolt step followed by the loading step. In this regard,in sequent, you hve asking the abaqus system to run pretension step first then followed by loading step. Let say, I wanted to include prestressed tendon force into the truss element on the model. Thus, the series of analysis step sequence will be 1.pretension bolt step 2. Prestressed tendon step 3. Applying the loading step...Am I right?Thanks sir.
@arsitech-ltd4 жыл бұрын
Dear, With Abaqus prestress loaf can be define only in initial step that is default created step. 2nd step is basically 1st step that created by you - Abaqus allow bolt pretension only in this step. Now you can define more step.

Some doubts sir 1)while defining tie constraint you choose whole plate connected to beam(not the i-section surface connected on plate).is it ok to give tie to whole plate. 2) you didn't defined tie constraint for bolt(bolt head connected to plate+nut to plate)...is it ok to give pretension nd contct surface only?
@arsitech-ltd5 жыл бұрын
Dear, 1. By name of beam i selected i section only during surface creation. 2. Tie means u r fixing the bolt head with respective surface, of course one can do this. But in reality bolt head not fixed with respective surface it has some frictional contact..so better to use contact with friction.
@cha-e_85654 жыл бұрын
@@arsitech-ltd In this regard..what is the reasonable contact friction value for this case?
