what if ft is given should we assume 1ft or 3.28 ft? since 3.28 ft is equal to 1m

You should express all your solutions in ft also. No need to do conversion of units.

14meter b a talaga yun? or 12m? naguguluhan ako sa dalawang height po

14 m po is the depth of the liquid while the 12 meter length is the height of the triangular section of the dam.

Good day. I think it's clearly stated on the problem that the hydrostatic uplift varies linearly from heel to toe that's why the shape of U is triangular. Also, I was able to explain how to solve for U. I understand why you had a hard time grasping the lecture. This video needs a lot to improve. But I appreciate your honest feedback. Thank you.

I think Fss failed in your solution. The dam will fail due to sliding. Fss and FSo must be atleast 1.50

Based from what I've read from a textbook, the safe value for the factor of safety should be greater than 1. Perhaps, the computed value may not be safe in actual application. Thank you for the correction. I acknowledge your honest feedback.

Thank you also for sharing your knowledge to this platform. And Yes it is true that in some books they differ in what factor of safety against sliding and overturning..Some uses 3.0 in Fso and 1.5 for Fss..This type of videos like yours must be shared❤️

No , the dam won't fail due to sliding or overturning as long as the safety values are greater or equal to 1.5
