That is a correct assessment. Oilers (after the starting 5) are pretty bad and certainly not a playoff team. The awful construction and assembly of players has continued for >30 years

Skinner cannot start game 4. Personally I wouldn't even dress him. The only positive of this post season is this is 2 brutal playoffs in a row for the stache and we likely won't have him next year

@@TiggaTrey I have no clue. I've been saying all along his lateral movement is worse than a beer league goalie and he's a wax statue most of the time. Dubnyk went through a phase in Edmonton where his arms looked sewn to his torso. There's also a lot of idiots out there that love to blame Nurse for everything yet if you ever blame the goalie they ask why you aren't blaming management lol

To me, the same story different year. The Kings 1-3-1 can get you in, but isn't a Cup formula. The Oilers idea of having 2 Superstars can get you in, but isnt the answer either. The Oilers will need to try something different. I just knew when the Playoffs started that Skinner just can't go all the way. McDavid isn't going to light the lamp 3 times every game. Eventually Goaltending is a factor, and Skinner to me just doesn't have it. I know this series isn't over, but the Canucks just look like the better team. Dallas looks like the better team as well. When you look at it from a perspective with no dog in the fight. I know it's tough to come to grips with when it's "your team" I had to do it with my Kings as well. I knew the Kings have some good players, but I also knew we didn't have enough to make any kind of run. By enough, I mean in totality. The Oilers don't either. Let's just hope the Canucks don't burn down their own city this time around. Still can't believe they did that one.

As a Canucks fan, I still think the Oilers will win. They're too strong a team and offensively talented. McDavid will probably find a way. But I'm glad the Canucks won 2 games at least because we proved all the naysayers wrong about us!

This series will probably go seven games. Regardless of who wins, I believe Oilers are the 7th best playoff team right now, and the Canuckleheads are 8th. The Oilers goaltending will be better for the rest of this series. It couldn't get any worse. They will also begin getting more bounces. Having said this, I can't help feel that the Oilers will lose this series. I hope I am wrong, but it is hard to shake off the feeling. What an unlucky franchise. On the flip side, the Canucks have been very lucky this season. On paper, they should be a bubble to a wildcard team at best. I believe they have severely overachieved this season and will return to their bumbling selves next season after Tocchet's shine as coach wanes into the night. Go Oilers go! Message to the NHL: Protect your star players. There absolutely has to be favoritism towards the talented players in this league, just like there is in the NBA. The fact that McDavid and Draisaitl have not won a cup in Edmonton yet is a travesty. The reffing in these playoffs needs to be better. Canucks fans will remember 2011 and how the NHL made sure that Vancouver did not beat Boston by allowing the lowly Bruins to clutch and grab their way to a Stanley Cup. Although I didn't have a horse in that finals matchup, I remember how hurt everyone who was a Canucks fan was at how they've been robbed of a championship. The NHL does not want a Canadian franchise to win the cup. The fix is always there. Just look at how the oh hum boring LA Kings won two cups in the past. That team was the antidote for people suffering from insomnia. Anyways, enough said.

Anyone who knows hockey, who has played the game, who has been in championship games, knows this is all on Skinner and the coach. Skinner is not a Stanley cup goalie and he is killing the teams confidence. The team pace for the oilers was way too slow and the coach should have got them up to speed way early on in the game. The oilers speed and pressure is what beat van in game 2. What happened to that? Whoever is in love with Skinner on Oilers management needs to be fired.

The two players carrying the team is an old and irrelevant narrative………these two play the entire PP, big advantage. What the Oilers need is to properly sort out the bottom six and stop pretending adding one player is going to change things…….maybe try playing the youth more?

Until this coach gets it back to a team game where in trouble you can’t have your three best players on one line. Skinner was terrible Nuge was non existent McDavid was in no man land on the first goal. Foegele is a crash and bang guy shouldnt try to carry a puck his fault on that goal. McLoad is not good enough at this point in his career to carry the third line. Kane McDavid Hyman McLoad Draisaitl Foegele Holloway Nuge Perry Janmark Ryan Brown. Even out the lines or your playing golf with the Leafs.
