Eskom asks for a 36% increase then when they get 18% everyone breathes a sigh of relief. That's how they screw us.

Eskom has gone MAD ! How are pensioners supposed to afford electricity ? It has become a luxury, no longer a necessity !
@reinemarais4392
@reinemarais4392 20 сағат бұрын
I'm a pensioner. I only have Eskom electricity in the Western Cape. I have no alternative provision. My geyser is invariably off. I switch it on every two or three days to wash up, to wash clothes and to give myself a rinse in the basin. I pay a Thousand Rand for 291 units. I pay a pre-paid surcharge which covers only the connection to my home. On these I pay VAT. With the proposed increase my electricity units will cost R1 3600 a month. This is unacceptable. Remove VAT from electricity. Give pensioners a rebate. Stop fleecing people who are not getting increases. They are living on pensions.

Totally agree. The truth has been spoken Blame the stupid Zuma and Ramaphosa for this total mess up..They are quick to give others the blame while as a matter of fact they are responsible.

You clearly have no idea whats going on here….6:20 is were you’ll find your answer… the private sector is a serpent squeezing every single cent. Even the corruption that took place with the power stations, who coopted Eskom staff and management? The private sector. Who benefited the most financially? THE PRIVATE SECTOR/BIG BUSINESS!!!! FYI the Gupta’s were actually Eskoms cheapest coal supplier which irked the other players hence the onslaught from the propaganda machine, with that said im glad the guptas are gone too much power in private hands…

@@Lawrence-b8k The serpent private sector has existed long before ANC rule, in fact one can argue that the non-Afrikaner business block was even more powerful than the Nats, hence they didn’t need Pretoria’s permission to end apartheid…. Thats why “democracy “ is defended at all costs because behind democracy is the protection of the “free-market”

Eskim is becoming the most expensive power provider on the planet. On a purchasing parity basis, it is likely the most expensive.

What do we look like? Americans that can just pay and pay? The same things I bought 2.5 years ago cost R1200 and it now cost R2600. I used to spend R500 a month on electricity and now I have to spend R700. My salary, however, does not rise. Make it make sense.

You may find fault with these townships in your claims that "they are not paying for electricity" but the source of all this problem is the agenda constructed and driven by the western Financial Elite controlling all European and American cooperate companies among which Eskom is also one.

Has anyone considered the use/abuse of BBBEE legislation for the price increases? It formed part of the basis for tenderpreneurism. Sheer corruption and looting is of course the other component.

ESKOM is getting so expensive, it is very fast becoming worthwhile to go off-grid. It is exactly right what the speaker says at 10:30. Eskom will be losing their best customers first, and be left with the poor customers that cannot afford.

Not all coal supply is procured on open tender by Eskom. The ever green contracts constitute the bulk of the coal procurement by Eskom. The price of coal procured from ever green contracts is practically unnegotiable. Corruption at its highest form...

I’m all for paying more as long as we get better more reliable service and in the long run prices start coming down but we know for sure that the price hikes are due to mismanagement over 30 years and inefficiency along with a great big dollop of incompetence! This is what happens when you vote with your feelings instead of your head.
