In my humble opinion by reducing electric consumption during take-off and landing, you could add to passengers number or increase cruising distance. This can be done by some hard-wire arrangement either by overhead contact or by take off/landing electric poll via a coupling/decoupling arrangement which allows frequent overnight take off

I think the best of all the evtol is the lilium Jet. It stands alone as the only vtol of its layout and configuration type. 36 ducted fans and vectored thrust. It incorporated the highest degree of operational safety and i offers direct 1 stage flight transition operation, meaning it smoothly transitions from verticle take and lift to forward flight in a single mechanical action unlike all other Evtols that require 2 or more, excluding the volocopter. This is due to Liliums pitched vector trust, incredibly simple and yet ingenius in application, Their thrust system not only provide thrust in whatever angle its pitched but due to its location along the edge of the wing, it also acts much like a flap along with driving fast air across the surface of the wing producing aeronautic lift, essentially doubling the amount of lift created, and as such requiring less power to produce high degrees of lift. Its engines are always aiding the efficiency of flight unlike those multi rotor designs that operate in multi stages. One group of rotors to create lift and another to power forward flight. Those aircraft see their lift props shut down in forward flight creating high degrees of drag and airflow obstruction. And then their are those that utilise the same rotors thruought the whole flight process, but some have had issues with their transitional flight performance. producing undesirable ride characteristics during transition. I think all the new evtols have a future, but imo Lilium is no less than 2 generations ahead of them in every regard. Its liken to an iphone being introduced in the age of the mobile celluar phones. its way ahead of the rest.

Lilium definitely has the advantage when it comes to forward flight I'm not sure it's as efficient in the hover But over distances and speed yes

@@matthewspry4217 They definitely point out that hover isnt the aircraft strong point in terms of efficiency, BUT, in hover its doing a lot more than people realize. Of course it keeps aloft from direct thrust, but as a bonus the fans also suck high speed air over the wings generating lift. meaning it doesn't require as much power to stay aloft as one would think, also it has way more stability in hover mode that other evtol's design layouts. need we forget one of the main engineers on there team is one of the lead engineer from the Harrier jump jet fighter aircraft. And ya gota think the guy that made a figher jet with full armaments hover he can do a thing or two with an suv size mostly carbon fiber electric evtol. Displite procress seemingly slow, i love Lilium has taken to a WAY higher degree of engineering with their aircraft appose to that of the competition, which many took to the garage band approach. Lilium engineering is that of a commerical airliner, and i believe that will pay off over time.

Sorry but I find the CCOs example of NY airport a bit farfetched. Adding 50 light airplanes will require also to be managed by air control, and the air space has its limitations especially around airports, and will have a higher take off/ landing frequency than large airplanes - A; and B adding to noise pollution, those living close to airport might object big time… ?

How about reintroducing Airships for mass passenger and freight transportation, too many companies are already trying to make evtols , but not that many are working on reintroducing Airships . There's already to many E VTOL startups , unless you have some sort of groundbreaking new technology then there's no point adding to an already over proliferated market space.
