The answer of this question is not so simple & straight, it's depends upon our " sampling plan" & " Analyte nature" The reason can be like this in case of solid sample, it's quite easy to collect sample for analysis as compared to liquid samples or gaseous sample, Because in case of solid sample you just have to pick solid materials & sometime grind the materials to make sample more easy for analysis, while in case of liquid sample you have to use a bit sophisticated techniques like evaporation, distillation liquid liquid extraction etc etc & if you have to take ground water sample then you have to dig down hole in earth surface & use pump to take water as sample, In case of gases, if you have to take atmospheric gases as sample from certain height then have to use aircraft, which can be difficult, gases are not easy to capture as they are mostly not visible to us & escaping tendency are far greater in case of gases Note : This is my answer regarding your questions, you also can take another opinion of your teachers as well, Farthur if I find a more concise & precise answer then inshallah I will share with you here
