Data analysis in cricket is next to impossible. Too many variables. Pitch, weather, ball, bat, country, phase of the game, etc etc. in certain phase same ball can be left, defended or hit for six. cricket is unnecessarily trying to imitate football which is very simple game.

Modern day data analytics takes into account the behaviour of the surface, dew, grip in the pitch, wind, phase of the game (quite obvious), and many such things you can't imagine. Cricket is a scientific game and data analytics hasn't yet reached even 1 % of its potential yet in cricket.

An eye opening episode serving as a trailer to the realm of data analytics in cricket and how this universe is expanding and how elite teams are using it, talking about what a batsman does after playing two dots in a T20 match! I don't think so we have even scratched that surface yet, or have we? I wish this episode could had been live, so I could asked some questions from Sarvesh 1. How important it is for a Data Analyst working in a team related to Cricket, to be cricket savy too? Could a good data analyst, expert in his field can work in a team lead by lets say a head coach, a former cricketer who can guide him on what analysis to do or it is highly important that the Data Analyst working in a Sports Industry must be savvy of avid follower of that sports too 2. Can carefully made up plans using data analytics be executed to perfection by a random team of players or it is highly imperative that you have good players, talented pool, to be able to execute that plan. How much talent or individual brilliance of the players matter or will matter in this evolving universe of data analytics in Sports? 3. What would work better, an average player but perfectly executing a plan backed by real time data input or a innovative skill full player with not so good but enough bits and pieces to execute his game with a room for innovation and decisions on the go? Can cricket be played based on instincts, on the field innovation or its has evolved to the extent that Data Analytics is the future now? I would if Doc. Sb and Rashid Bhai may shed some light on it in another episode may be with Kamran Bhai also in it
