I think what made them more evil is that fact that they couldn't know for sure if this was a legend or not. And just went with the killings because of some tell tale.

There are some theory's that say that the game simply needs to resolve with the family killing the hider, or the hider surviving until sunrise. The domas family could have possibly survived if they followed the rules of the game to la baile's rules and not attacked grace after it had concluded.
@unclefranklin45752 жыл бұрын
Alright, that makes the ending twice as good.
@NotAGoodUsername3602 жыл бұрын
It's interesting to note that the ambiguity of the rules beyond the recording of the phonograph are probably not written down anywhere as they serve as evidence for the sacrificial murders. As such, this turns the game itself into a generational time bomb, as the rules slowly get twisted and unnecessary restrictions are added accidentally as they are mistaken for a rule. This is most likely intentional design given the lengths of time between games of Hide-and-Seek- most Le Dumas family members typically only experience one death game per lifetime. This means that eventually, as the ruleset decays over time, the family winds up disadvantaging themselves to the point where they are all but guaranteed to lose, as we see happens in the film.

@Sasuke81a2 жыл бұрын
I remember watching a review of this movie on the Dead Meat Channel and I agree wholeheartedly that it's extremely unwise to make a deal with the Devil. But it does give insight of some elite families that are willing to do anything for wealth and power.
@josephorzolek26232 жыл бұрын
That's a great comment, and truer than most people realize. It's extremely interesting in the movie how the dialogue differentiates Grace (a fitting name choice) as being too "red blooded" to be part of a "blue blooded" family. It makes me question just how exactly these old-money, "blue blooded" families obtained their wealth in the "real world."
@JAMBALAYATALKS2 жыл бұрын
Interesting how some elites/wealthy fail to see that, if you have to make a deal promising to give up something that was given to you to begin with (your soul) to get wealth/power, it’ll never truly be yours.
@josephorzolek26232 жыл бұрын
@pyropulse Hello! I believe the dialogue between Grace and Becky LeDomas has Becky stating that she was told she wouldn't be accepted in the family, and one of the reasons was because of her being too "red blooded."

I also love the relationship between Daniel and Charity, because it shows just how messed up the deal with the devil has made the Le Domas family. Charity's primary reason for persuing Daniel was for his family's money and Daniel probably believed that with his family's fucked up traditions, she was the best he was ever going to get. And even then, it's subtly shown that he was still a much better person than Alex was, because he was forthcoming about the ritual and satanism with Charity and let her make an informed decision to go through with it or not. Also, for added sadness, while Charity may be a gold digger, there's some indication that while Daniel's money was her main reason for marrying him, she did genuinely care about him at the very least. Note her bursting into tears as she says "You don't care if I die" and the absolute look of horror on her face when she realizes she actually shot him. Daniel and Charity's relationship only forms a tiny fraction of the script and story, but man, we learn so much about the Le Domas family and their dealings from the few lines they get.

This was a great movie, and you made a good point in saying the devil always gets his due. So sorry for your friend man. I hope he pulls through. One day I hope to write a script and have a movie made about a world where the god most commonly believed in our world is definitely 100% real. But all the cruel and unfair suffering that takes place still happens which makes the debate about why he allows it much more complicated. As an atheist, I’ve never had too make up an excuse for god causing/allowing innocents too live in pain and detrimental poverty, as I believe that it happens because he’s not real. But if I was given absolute, undeniable evidence that the all powerful, all loving, and all knowing being known as god is in fact real, I think you could make a brilliant Analysing Evil video about how he’s worshipped by those who have everything, whilst those who have nothing are left wondering why he would leave them too suffer

Excellent analysis, as always! 😃🙏 The religious subtext in this film is undeniable. I always saw Grace as protected by God. She has not sold herself like previous members of the family (like Charity) who married into it for wealth. Daniel even mentions his wife is a "gold digger" and Grace "has a soul". Grace truly loves Alex and was a foster child, so she always longed for a real family. Her name Grace has a religious connotation. She is dressed in her white wedding dress throughout the film, making her seem like an avenging angel. At one point she stabs her hand with a nail, resembling the stigmata. Daniel is another interesting character who atones for the sins of his childhood, sacrificing himself like a martyr to save Grace's life. Even Mr. Lebail is impressed with her strength and fortitude at the end. She was the one to finally break the curse. That's my take on it, anyway. Best wishes to your friend in his fight against cancer. 🥰
