You hear how screwed up the Rakata were throughout KoTOR 1, but to me, the most significant example is the mind prison. Imagine being a political rival to the wrong Rakata and failing in your power bid. Maybe you advocate for abolition of slavery. Are you exiled, jailed or executed? No, no your mind is trapped inside a box to degrade over millennia.

The absolute best thing about the Rakata? They managed to, somehow, enforce am empire wide ban on animals/people capitalizing on forward facing eyes. I personally interpret the Rakata losing their force sensitivity to be the force itself retaliating again them. We know that the dark side is cancerous, so with how overwhelming the Rakata were with using it to dominate the galaxy they became actively harmful to the force itself and when it become too much it took drastic action and amputated the diseased part of itself. I don’t think it was done with any hatred or spite from the force but done in order to survive.

KoToR had such incredible worldbuilding, and KoToR 2 had such incredible introspective and ideological building. Writing back then with rpgs was on another level as TES Morrowind came out around that time and also was incredible in those regards. Only game I've played recently that was on that level in building a world, showing morality and mortality was based on one of the greatest ancient novels written; Journey to the West. So it is staggering how back in the early 2000s writers could just bang out such incredible pretty novel fantasy, for was was regarded back then as mere games.

@@qui-gonzaluke8024I think it was made by humans. If you all recall, and I know I remember right because I’m nearing the end of another playthrough of KOTOR on PC, the ancient droid on Dantooine expresses some confusion about you, a human, being neither slave nor “Builder” species. It may be that humanity had seen this threat, created an anti-Rakata virus bomb thing, but due to other aliens’ proximity to the Rakata they also caught some of the effects of this virus. It may explain why Star Wars seems to have significantly more humans than any other aliens. It would be more “balanced” had the slave races of the Rakata, most of the aliens we see in Star Wars, not been affected by the virus, but here we are.
@Manny082Ай бұрын
I think the only reason why the Rakata ruled for so long was that the force had nothing to balance the Rakata with. The force was still very new to sentient species, so the force had no choice but intervene directly. The force gets involved only after long stints of the status quo, where there are no likely changes to the Galaxy.

The Rakata as a race seems to have no redeeming qualities. It seems that every single Rakatan was cruel and violent. The Rakata resemble a dark entity that’s written as a species instead of an individual character. The Rakata are one of the worst races I’ve come across in Science Fiction and Science Fantasy. The Dark Eldar (Drukhari) from 40K maybe worse. Where the Rakata scaled to the size of the Galactic Empire or the Republic, the species would have eventually spread their evil to other galaxies. i mean its basically like you gave a predator animal super powers. they dont really care about morality when they see everyone else including other rakata as food.

@@cal2127I wonder what Rakata reproduction and maturation is like? Probably brutal, with high female and infant mortality?

I am really glad you are taking a look at Star Wars. You earned my sub for sure. Though I am unsure if you are aware of the lack of a consensus on whether the Rakata's "500 worlds" is entirely accurate or not. You see, there was a rogue warload by the name of Soa who conquered Korriban for a time. This puts him at around 27,700 BBY in terms of latest activity. He is a raid boss in the direct sequel to KOTOR and KOTOR II known as "Star Wars: The Old Republic." He boasts, as part of his dialogue that he "Ruled over a thousand worlds" personally as a small warlord that the Infinite Empire eventually hunted down and imprisoned. This implies that the infinite Empire had many more worlds than just a few hundred and could have even had into the millions considering how long they were out conquering planets. Edit: I play like 30 seconds ahead and he gets to it lol.

I don't think there's even thousands worlds in Stygian Caldera alone

Have you ever thought about doing an Analyzing Evil on a Warhammer 40K character? There are a lot to pick from. Erebus, the Emperor, Horus, Konrad Curze, the Chaos gods, Fabius Bile, Fulgrim, any of the Drukhari, the Silent King, the C'tan, so many.

I would love to have seen the ancient Rakata face the more modern day Vong. Both merciless but one is strong in the force and relied heavily on technology while the other is devoid of the force and hates technology.

Just for your information, I would probably stick more to Legends if you want to get views. The newer Canon is not that popular. I'm sure there'll be a few people out there that swear up and down that it is, It's not. No way movies would keep getting delayed or canceled out right along with shows only lasting one season in one of the most successful IPs in the history of anything, if it were still popular.
