Star Wars Legends was the closest the franchise ever got to something like Tolkien’s Legendarium or the Cthulhu Mythos, at least in my opinion. While not everything worked, the sheer depth and near limitless possibilities lead to some very interesting stories, concepts, and characters that made the universe feel absolutely massive and kind of scary, like the Yuuzhan Vong, Abeloth, Vitiate, and of course Mnggal-Mnggal. What sucks is that Disney had the chance to actually adapt this already established source material, and yet they decided to throw it into the non-canon dumpster, and created the sequel trilogy, which we all know how that turned out.
@daniellewillis27674 ай бұрын

Dear Vile Eye, you just made my day. The sheer depths of the old EU are brimming with fascinating and complex characters that are sadly very little disscussed due to the obscurity of the media they appear in. I`m particularlly looking forward to the Vitiate and Yuuzhan Vong videos, but whatever you chose to do in the future, I wish you the best of luck. Cheers!
@Bthakilla4rilla4 ай бұрын
I'm so happy you've decided to include and start off with Mnggal-Mnggal. I always found it to be one of the freakiest concepts in the SW universe. Almost anything to do with the Unknown Regions is inherently unsettling because of the nature of it being unknown, or at least not well investigated. Being aware that a thing like Mnggal-Mnggal exists is not quite like opening a door, but peeking through a window into a H.P. Lovecraft world. That whatever's there could have the capacity to be so far beyond normal. And the fact alone that the celestials literally walled-off a massive section of the galaxy with black holes, deliberately making it (mostly) inaccessible would have its own astronomical implications. It almost feels like the idea of going out of bounds in a game, but then the "out of bounds" timer doesn't appear to kill you, so you just keep walking for as long as there's "more game" ahead of you until things start to get weird and you feel like you really shouldn't be here. Except... there's *actually* something there.

Years ago, there was a sci-fi book series I read called 'Renegade Legion'. In that universe there was an empire called the Terran Overlord Government that ruled a good portion of the galaxy. In one of the first books I read, there was a world that rebelled against the TOG. So, the empire sent a fleet of warships to deal with the uprising. They failed to fully defeat the rebels, and were unwilling to commit troops to fighting a protracted battle that might see the rebellion spread off-world. So, the fleet was ordered to recall all ground troops and begin a 24 hour bombardment from orbit. They bombarded the planet's surface until the skies burned and oceans boiled off. And they kept bombarding. When they were done, that world's surface was a near-uniform elevation, and there was nothing but molten rock cooling under blackened skies. I'm of the firm opinion, that THAT is how you deal with Mugg Fallow, or any other world heavily infested by Mnggal-Mnggal; you burn it from orbit. You don't send food down to it in the form of troops, you rain fire on it from above. No need to blow the world apart and risk specks of the entity escaping, just burn the world to cinders.

The problem is not that disney makes bad villains.. its that they make cool concepts for villains then ruin them. Kylo was a cool concept, a dark side aprentice still on the way up and learning his way to the top. He could have become one of the best villains by the end of the trilogy with proper development if Disney and Ryan johnson/JJ Abrams didnt turn him into star wars twillight fan fic. Snoke had potential too, a misterious and powerful master, clearly wounded by some unknown event in the past. He could have been so much more, he could have fought palpatine in the past and lost if they wanted to tie their stories together in some form, but nah, they did the most anticlimatic, boring and character destroying arct possible. Qimir is the only good thing from acolyte but he risk turning into yet another twillight fan fic story. Could they stop with this whole trope for fuck sake? Anyway theres potential there if they dont fuck up. Hell even General Hux had potential as a non force user villain then they dismantled his character in the last movie. My point stands, all of these as concepts are cool and had potential, disney just needs to learn to stick to their guns with their villains and have FOCUS on their stories.

So full credit, despite star wars being a well traveled, well learned franchise, you went through all the basics, and as a successful flex, i've never heard of this thing. Take a bow. Yeah, can’t see why he didn’t cover Cartman yet. He has done so many awful things to so many people, some of which weren’t even deserving of the torture he put them through. It kind of makes me confused as to how and why I should feel bad for him after he “sacrifices” himself to save his friends. Like sorry, but no. In fact, I wouldn’t put it past Cartman to pretend to be homeless, because I highly doubt given his intellect and influence that he would end up in such a state. It’s just not in character for the guy.
