you didn't mention this game was supposed to be on the playstation 2, xbox, and pc before the redesign made it a Playstation 3 exclusive. You did mention it was supposed to be on xbox 360 and pc in its current form but this is one of those games that was completely redesigned over halfway through development. iot is a lesson on HOW NOT TO DO game design.

Woooow, the potential this game had based on it's concept. Imagine starting the game on Nectar, starting out as a power fantasy with it. And then when you switch sides, you get off Nectar and are more vulnerable and lack it's abilities. It becomes harder and more about Guerilla warfare from there "using nectar against them". Or at least swap sides ala classic Call of Duty. I want a Haze successor and I'm being serious.
@j3e125
@j3e125 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The first part would allow you to play as an OP super soldier similar to Halo or Titanfall. It’s more focused on offensive, fast paced shooting where your abilities support the gameplay mechanics. The downside to this is the dependency on nectar, and your character needs a cool down and is vulnerable when not using nectar. The second half would take away some of your super-abilities, and turn the combat into human vs superhuman shooting where you fight against competent enemies that aren’t bullet sponges but have the ability and intelligence to pose a threat. In abscence of nectar, you won’t have any penalties and it allows your raw skills to interact with the gameplay.

I liked the game, but: The plot was weak, The game only took about 5 hours to complete..., As he said, so much of the maps felt so empty. The ones where you had to drive felt like a pre alpha showcase. It seems they spent all their money in marketing because this game was plastered everywhere for about 6 months before launch. An excellent concept with fun mechanics, but very poorly fleshed out. I'd be all for it being bought for a couple hundred bucks and rebooted

Funnily enough, Haze seems to be the PS3-exclusive FPS that runs best on the PC. A sixaxis controller is mandatory for Killzone 2 and it runs poorly (~15-20 fps), Killzone 3 just runs poorly (~15-20 fps) and has busted audio, and while the Resistance series works decently the game logic breaks above 60 fps. Haze runs completely fine at 1440p 120 hz/fps. Ain't that a kick in the head? Also funny, the Mantel gameplay really reminds me of playing a Veteran Sharpshooter in Darktide. Disclaimer: I have a PS3 and the original discs, and after 10 years I bought a specific encoded blu-ray drive specifically to play the discs on PC because the PC is my primary platform.

I really enjoyed this game when it came out, that said I only had this, Turok and cod4 but no internet and I think AC1 at the time so my options were limited. I go back to it every now and then because them first few levels in the rainforest are still good but yeah now I see how bad the game was even for that time.

I might be the only one who liked sixaxis controls. Sometimes they were even done right. In Resistance 1 Multiplayer [ :) ] you could tilt the controller left or right to display the scoreboard and map so you can see that stuff while keeping your fingers free. That was a nice touch.

I remember the advertisement of the game (just a short tv ad) making this game look way better; I was thinking it was maybe a sort of post apocalyptic shooter where you played in a dark world with brutal combat (hence the broken visor box art). But wow, when I looked into it years later, I was shocked by how off I was on that; my idea sounded at least better.

After the reveal trailer back in the last decade, I (myself in my teens) was kinda hyped to play this game when it was announced as a multiplatform ( I was expecting it to be on PC). I also kinda liked the "theme song" made by Korn back then (it appeared as a bonus track on that self-titled album of them in 2007). Many years later, I'm so glad I never got my hands on this game. 🤣

Always knew about this game but never got the chance to play it back in the PS3 days. Awhile ago I was watching Gmanlives videos and came across his video on Haze and it reminded me i missed this one, even though it wasn't the best. So I bought a brand new copy on Amazon and just recently got it in the mail. I love the ideas in the game and honestly I have a soft spot for mediocre to bad fps games so that's why I bought it. I'm excited to play this and don't expect it to be some super amazing fps game, I know it's going to be laughably goofy...like I said I can look past these things and still have a good time. I don't hold judgement on some games cause there's not really a legacy to hold expectations towards...such as this one, it's a single entry, so I'll take it for what it is.

I was an Assistant manager(ASM) at GameStop back when this came out. I can still remember the hype over this game and the Sony diehards rushing in to pre-order it while saying things like "this is the Halo killer!" "This game is the PlayStation's answer to Halo" yadada... I had both systems but mainly used my ps3 as a blu-ray player and to play God of War and Uncharted. I had a young guy who would constantly tell people to buy a ps3 instead of a 360 and I would constantly have to tell him not to be so biased. After Haze released he still defended it despite the horrible reviews and the line of people trading it in on the same day it released lol. We would give him hell so bad over how he hyped it up to be the best game ever. Then one day the inevitable happened. I was in back and heard a guy screaming and cussing so I intervened. The guy said "this little twerp recommended this game to me as better than Halo, then after I buy the POS I come back and he says that since he sold me a new copy, all he can do is give me $20 trade in credit !" I had to tell the guy that the policy was new opened games cant be refunded usually , but since it was such a bad game I would make an exception and let him exchange it for another game or get a gift card . He was fine with that and before leaving he said the employee who recommended he buy Haze, was never allowed to talk or wait on him again !!!! Well thats my memory of Haze's very disappointing launch. Even as shitty as I thought it was at time, I'd love to go back to being in my early 20's as a manager at GameStop . I really miss those days. The quality and amount of games released was just so much better IMO. Despite Haze sucking I'm glad developers at least took the chance, unlike today..
