I never expected it to be my main form of resale but it's done a lot for me in terms of rekindling my love of resale and helping me move some inventory that I wasn't super passionate about. I appreciate these types of videos

Good, honest analysis. The other resellers that I follow who seem to do extremely well on Whatnot tend to advertise their upcoming events big time on YT and Instagram, sometimes annoyingly so, but their followers know when the event is happening and what will be on offer, they show up and buy their stuff for decent money. I'm sure you will do very well next time, Matt

I feel your frustration believe me I’ve been on whatnot for almost 2 years and it still has its problems. I sell trading cards and use to start them at $1 but not anymore since I can’t seem to get more viewers for whatever reason so I end up taking a huge loss. It’s definitely a struggle and honestly I think part of the problem is that they have too many sellers and not enough buyers.
@robsomething44352 жыл бұрын
Agree. The influx of sellers is diluting the platform too much. I have personally moved on, not worth the time for me to make a fraction of what I can command on pretty much any other platform.

The only reason Daily Refinement is on WhatNot is because he's banned from Ebay. I hear Nicole State who was banned on Ebay is on WhatNot and is probably going to get banned on WhatNot. They are so desperate, they have to try to scam resellers with faux "wholesale." Cringy.

Hey Matt, as always I appreciate your transparency. I am not a Whatnot seller but do have a question for you. Was your show on a Friday night? I remember when you started selling on the platform you scheduled your shows on Friday nights. If so, besides the glitches, do you think that perhaps scheduling a show for a Monday or Tuesday night when more people are 'home' and not out socializing might help? Back in the days of Ebay when auctions were truly 'the thing' (talking about 20+ years ago) I remember strategically scheduling my listings so they would end on a Sunday or Monday night (also at a time when it wasn't too late on the East coast... around 7 to 8 pm pacific). I also would take into account if selling mens clothing, I would avoid a popular sports tv night. Obviously, back then people did not have 'smart phones' or much access to the internet on the go. Just curious if that might help... especially since people are socializing much more now and in the 'holiday' and 'fall' spirit. Seems like restaurants, gastropubs and bars are crowded here in lala land on the weekends.
@ThriftALife2 жыл бұрын
I think there's something to that, yeah. I schedule my friday auctions for 5 Pacific, which I think catches most people before they go out. Haven't noticed a huge discrepancy between this and weeknights. But certainly something to pay attention to.

Just curious on a $3 item what the fees would be and what your cost is for shipping. or does the buyer pay the entire shipping cost? I live in an off grid tiny house with 2 lofts where I store my inventory. So the way I feel is its got to be worth me climbing up the ladder if I'm going to accept an offer. Consequently, I don't make a lot of sales. I try to concentrate on those higher dollar sales because I'm basically working to pay for health insurance and high cost meds. The State pays for disabled people's health insurance if they work. The catch is that if you're a sole proprietor you have to make a profit. You can't just sell stuff to keep busy, or as a hobby it has to be a bona fide occupation. That is why I have to be choosey about how I spend my time. So if there's a chance I would only break even on WhatNot it wouldn't work for me.
@michelle90572 жыл бұрын
As a buyer I will cruise right by auctions that are vague in its content, or nothing in the store. I’m shopping for plus size and bags; if you’re not marketing your show to the proper audience, you’ll sell stuff for 0.00. I know you won’t make that mistake again!
