5:30 It should be pointed out that Anamorphics almost always breathe regardless of price. I just finished ACing a feature with Cooke 2x Anamorphics and they breathe like crazy. Same with many others I've pulled with, so breathing isn't a dealbreaker with Anamorphics

What camera was used for your main talking head video? And what was used for the bts showcase of the lens?

The same, S5II. On S35 for the talking head, full frame for some of the BTS (my mistake) :)

happy new year! they certainly have that signature-blandness we know and tolerate from Laowa anamorphics it's great to see how they made everything right on the handling-side of things. The aperture not being terribly worse than the primes make them very attractive as well (or let's say: makes the primes less attractive now). I hope you can find a chance to test them with the 1.33x adapter on top, maybe that will transform them from a white toast to whole-wheat toast

I hope you test the Samyang V-AF Anamorphic adapter (manual focus) when it comes out. 1.7X squeeze. It is announced but not yet available for shipment. What's intriguing is the electronic connection between the adapter and the lenses, which may enable better sharpness across the focus range by controlling the interaction between the adapter elements and the lens elements. Works with 100mm, 75mm, 45mm, 35mm lenses for full frame, and 24mm lens for APS-C.

I'll keep an eye out for it! I should be able to test it soon! :)

Does setting them both to "50mm" provide an opportunity for matching or are they too dissimilar?

I have the 50-100mm. I’m not sure the parfocal ability is working correctly & I’m not gonna lie, I screwed up my last nanomorph 50 when I tried to switch from PL to EF. Could you do a video showing how to do the shimming process on Laowa nanos? No one else has a video like that, and I think my 50 is completely compromised. The flares seem to be vertical. Tito! Why? Why are my damn flares vertical? Can I fix this?

When are you going to review the blazar 1.5 Remus
@dhigun10 ай бұрын
Hello, Can the EF/PL mount be used on the fx30 with metabones EF to E-mount speed booster? I have heard that the rear element protrudes into the camera body preventing a "speed booster" but allowing an adapter without an intervening lens element.

Hey, sabe me dizer a distância do flange PL (a protuberância de trás)? É que o kit adaptador PL da WoodenCamera para BMPCC6K PRO tem que ser 33,89 mm no máximo.

we missed you Tito. I love the 28-55... think it could be a nice option for documentary on s5iix... what you think?
@AnamorphicOnABudget11 ай бұрын
I missed y'all too! Both of them are great options for a 2-cam doc, the 50-100 being able to get inserts here and there, while the 28-55 makes the main footage.

Correct. Not a neutral flare.

Thanks for sharing the video. I'm curious, how do you feel about it compared to the Proteus 2x Lenses? Personally, I find that the 2x lenses offer a richer anamorphic character, even when cropped to 2.4:1. It adds a more cinematic touch, don't you think?
@AnamorphicOnABudget11 ай бұрын
They definitely do, as 2x is the "default" anamorphic look, but the Proteus are much bigger, heavier, and pricier, so I like the nanomorphs a lot because they're none of those things. hahaha

Hi Tito (like the hair cut) 🙂 and your channel ! Lots of good valuables informations. I need to ask (maybe someone already did before..) In lots of movies shot with anamorphic I noticed a blurry artefact at the bottom of some shots. Either sometimes a close up or a wide shot. This doesn't match with a shallow depth of field, it looks more like a bottom blurry "vignette" added in post to direct the viewer's attention to the center of the frame. I don't have an exemple but it's in almost every feature film. Do you have an explanation for that ? Is it regular anamorphic artefact or postproduction ? Thank you (and sorry for my Frenglish !!) ;-)
@AnamorphicOnABudget11 ай бұрын
Heyo! Thank you for the positive feedback - on the channel and the haircut! The blurry vignette is usually caused by spherical aberration, and it's commonly called as "focus falloff", the same way a vignette is caused by "light falloff". In today's age where everything goes through intense post production, it could be either from the lenses (as it was, traditionally), or added later on. :)
