I believe that distortion, sharpness, chromatic aberration, and flare were not a problem in the 1960s.

The flare your referring to is called a Halo & this lens does a beautiful job of getting it. Although to big & to soft but just perfect for a creative job. Just need a freaking rig.

You will ALWAYS need a second (spherical) lens.

I really appreciate your videos and your work but I have to disagree with you on this one. I've got an Hypergonar 16 ST version 6 myself and I can tell that this lens is super sharp. The "infinity" flare only happen when you're wide open, below f2 if I remember well. It's true that is a big and heavy lens but it produce some very beautiful footage with amazing sci-fi flares. I think that the one you've tested has a coating issue, it's not looking super clean on your video. Thank you for all your inputs and keep up the good work. Cheers

Things you heard are true, I disagree totally with Tito on this one. I've got this lens and it's a wonderful one. Supeb quality and awesome sharpness. I use it with a canon FD 50mm and the results are amazing. I think the one Tito reviewed was not clean and maybe misaligned.
