The lens really give the feeling of looking at the world with you own eyes. The focus on the subject, while the outer edges blur as you look away from the center. It give you the feeling of reality the most lenses don't.

Very nice video. It reminded me old days. Try old Russian lenses. From Zenith camera M42( I think ). They where made like that. It was something I couldn't understand, when I was starting my B&W photography. After reading some books I realised, it's the lens. Now after 15 years, I have decided, to dust off my old dark room. Get some Ilford film, and take some pictures of my daughter's and wife. It's nice think to make it. Like wine. My best regards, and thanks for reminding, it's there.

Very nice video, the results of that swirly bokeh is just sweet! I am a manual focus lens freak myself, and I have been very lucky every now and then with my Isco-Göttingen Berolina Westromat 135mm f:3.5 M42 lens mounted on my Canon EOS 350D, but I don't think I'm a manual focus master, as most of my photography is comprised of still subjects. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video. Looks like the lens is based on a Petzval design. I wish I could get my hands on a Plasmat lens, like the ones used to film M - A City Searches for a Murderer (70mm 1.5). The center is so sharp and the corners so blurry, which makes every single image look like a painting.

Hi, not sure if this is the place to ask, but I need just a little guidance. I got the The Carl Zeiss Kipronar 120mm f1.9 is a projector lens from your video, and I`m gonna buy a M65 to M65 adapter + a reducer form M65 to M42. Now where I have issues is at the base, how or what do I use to attach the lens to the helicoid adapter. There used to be a link in your description but I can't find it anymore. Thank you for your time and keep these great videos coming!

Fantastic character lens. Great for a particular story. Reminds me a bit of an Biotar 70mm f1.5. But that lens is extreamly unruly, and struggles under anything but ideal lighting/filtering. Cool find and great engineering (especially with you’re home made adapter).

@Reverend Eslam: This comment is so redicules in so many ways, I can't even count them. Well some like kiddy girls, some like women. Those ones how like the kiddy girls are not used to look at real women. That's why they think every female older than 20 is a granny. THIS IS A WOMAN. AND AN OUTSTANDING ONE! She is awesome and has a wonderful expression in her face. She seems to be not only beautiful from the first glance but also from the characters side. Something you guys which are always looking for little kiddy girls and pinky pans will never understand. Because this requires maturity on both sides. It's time for a change! This woman should go to castings for film! Simply Awesome!

Definitely an interesting lens, but for me personally I don't like using any lens longer than 85mm because I feel like I have to shout out my instructions towards my models, especially since I have a very soft voice for a guy, but regardless I do rent 70-200mm zoom lenses for weddings and events but besides that 85mm is definitely my go-to focal length for any sort of portraiture work :) nice video btw

Lovely video and a really interesting effect but something in my own approach makes it easy to decide to go through life without swirly-bokeh lenses. I've seen the Helios lenses and there's something in me that's like a cat, I think "This does not interest me" and that's that. Just a matter of taste, no right or wrong to it. Sometimes you can get somewhat similar effects with composition. But again, a lovely video as usual.
