In India it's not uncommon that people ill treat other based on what they percieve a good dress sense. I remember, years ago we were flying from Delhi to Jammu en route to Vaishnodevi with my schoold friends and family.. Couple of girls were laughing and mocking us; noticed and didn't care much. I had to sit next to them in the flt. When I was speaking to the flt attendant - the girl turned and asked me, so you speak English. Yes, I can also speak French, Telugu Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and a little bit Tamil. Suddenly their dimeanor changed. They wanted to know where I live and seemed to think I have some accent. I'm still the same person in the same 800/Rs suit that I bought from Palika bazaar.
