How does the bassist sing his phrase like that in a loop without breathing? I am confused whether it is playback or not. He sings it in the exact same way each time, but on the other hand, his mouth movements are spot on. Live or playback?

Its not a playback may be with good headphones notice the difference,he has great vocals. Later you will notice the same voice became low because the sound for the singer has to make enfasis. Thats apply to other microphones ass well, by the sound enginner.
