Those mountains are the epitome of "negative space". Spatial, glacial, majestic, and magical. The treat for the viewer is how the scene slowly comes into focus. That is where the magic is!

Thank you for your beautiful feedback Christine! I miss snow-capped mountains... They are my happy place. But I am so lucky to be able to recreate them in watercolour.

Thank you so much Nina, those little splashes add that little extra bit of texture in watercolours, I love using them as a finishing touch.

Stunning! I felt like I should put on a winter coat to look at this painting. Great tip about using cotton swabs to lift.
@AnastasiaMily3 жыл бұрын
Oh thank you for such great feedback - I am happy I have managed to capture that cold and wintry mountain feeling. Cotton swabs are very useful for lifting watercolour paint and fixing small mistakes too.

Once again, a beautiful painting. Your use of white space is marvellous! May I ask, is that something that you have learned, or did you find you naturally knew where to leave the white areas? I love the texture you accomplished in the front of the picture, and, without any piddling around, you have made a detailed painting that puts me in that mountain clearing and listening to the birds calling each other. Thank you.
@AnastasiaMily Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Your question about the use of white space made me think - I feel that at this stage of my watercolour journey I know intuitively what parts of the paper to leave untouched but this came after practicing consistently... Things certainly become easier the more we paint :)

This was fantastic! I just love your mix of the rich DS pigments! You really make the paints come alive! Could you add what colors you used?
@AnastasiaMily3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tami. I can't remember the exact list of pigments, but here are a few I used from memory: Sodalite Genuine, Lunar Blue, French Ultramarine, Buff Titanium, Aussie Red Gold, Burnt Umber

Самое главное вовремя остановиться. Небо до 5:20 было лучше, на мой взгляд. Лаконичное суровое небо в буран. А уж когда вы на него набрызгали, -совсем стало не интересно. А в остальном отличная работа!
