Hi! A few days before this show they played in Tilburg (The Netherlands) During that show there were two blokes kissing each other and romancing like a fresh heterosexual couple in love would do. I was standing right next to them. After the show I told Darren about this and he loved it! I guess that's why he sad he'd rather kiss a man :)

+M Giovanni A few days before this show, Olga saw two men kissing each other at another Anathema show. She mentioned it to Darren and she thinks that might be why he talked about being able to kiss a man at the start of this video. Hope that cleared up the confusion.
@TheYogidaz7 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, I prefer to kiss a woman. Like nearly everything I have done live apart from the songs, it was spontaneous. I made a statement about not killing a man and I heard someone say "you'd kiss one though". I remembered a few days earlier how Danny had a go at me for being over affectionate. This was my last gig so I spontaneously decided I'd get him back and be over affectionate. Hence why he jokingly said, "I quit".

Seriously, please tell me what was so wrong with this old Anathema that they had to completely let it go in recent years??! I want to know? Evolution? I highly doubt it, this still IS and will always be Anathema , weather they like it or not!!!!
@Aenigmakil4 жыл бұрын
Evolution is a way of indirectly insulting metal. To imply pop is a more evolved state of music than metal is insulting. I love death/doom era Anathema but they were still amazing up until 2010. Everything since has been poor imo, with the exception of a couple of songs.
@Progenitura2 жыл бұрын
You need to understand that these old songs where written for Darren's voice. Vincent tried to fill the void after Darren's departure, but he was way to weak for it, and to some degree I think he was hurting his vocal chords. The melody is still there when it come to emotion and energy, but they simply could not find a better replacement, so they just dropped this growling approach. That's basically why most of us still liked Anathema even after Darren's departure, but yeah, unfortunately....it was definitely not the same and I always come back to these old songs with a bittersweet taste of nostalgy. Creativity-wise though I think many of post-Darren albums are above the level of their first ones. That's the lost we have to live with...just imagine how many of those songs would have been with Darren on vocals.

Sorry, but this guy can't sing. Danny and Vince grew as true musicians and songwriters. Danny has no crunch and pinch harmonics like on the 97 live at Krakow show. If you are stuck on this one album, you really are not a fan of them as musicians, and creators, because they continued to write and play great songs, and Vince and Danny can sing better than Darren, not to mention the added element of Lee Douglas on vocals.

@@duncanpatterson9890 No, I haven't, but I am willing to, if you have a clip. hahaha Hey, I apologize for my unneeded comments earlier. I like the band, but I like Vinny better when he took over vocals. And the first record I bought, was because of the cover, to be honest, at a little record/bootleg/music flea market thing me and a friend used to go to in North Seattle outskirts, mid 90's. Eternity. We would look for European bands, because the Grunge movement took over our metal scene. I couldn't get into at the time, for some reason. I was listening to a lot of Nevermore and going to the gigs since 92, and were friends with all of them. I rediscovered Anathema when I went back to college in 2010, and couldn't believe it was the same band, but since I was now in my 40's, I really liked "We're Here Because We're Here." And "Weather Systems," so I went backwards through the catalog, and I like some Serenades and Silent Enigma, but my favorite older record is easily Alternative IV. I'm sure you're talented. And made some great music. I'm not one to usually make unuseful comments, but I make mistakes, and sometimes I'm a jackass. Cheers, Duncan. :)
