I'm just a lowly club player with a 1700 or so rating. But my gripe is whenever the greatest chess players are discussed, it's always Carlson, Fischer, and Kasparov. Karpov and Kasparov had some real wars over the board. Why isn't Karpov ever mentioned as one of the goat?

Sinceramente, me parece que Karpov fallaba a la hora de atacar. Jugó con blancas y parecía que jugaba con negras. Increíble Kasparov cómo arriesga como sacrifica piezas sabiendo lo que le espera. Y si Increible el final sin duda.

The match had been tied since the last pawn was captured. For Kasparov it was enough to leave the tower as far away from his king and try to change it for the bishop, which he tried innumery times. Thus, there would only be victory of one if the other made an impossible error to occur between two great masters.

Help me to understand this one. I’m not seeing the draw if white king moves to e8. I get the rook taking the bishop. But I don’t see the draw after that. Black king can then move to g7. Where is the drawn position? What am I not seeing here? Unless you’re saying that it’s known in chess that 2 knights can’t possibly checkmate a king!

Yes, that's exactly what I'm pointing out too. That it's not a draw at the point where the game stopped. If the White King captures the black rook, it's a draw, while if it moves to e8 the game continues. Obviously, the two players shook hands at that point and the game ended in a draw.@@billallen6516

If the white king moves to e8 and the black rook captures the bishop, then the white knight on e7 will take the black rook on f5. After that, the only move is for the black king to go to g8, and gradually the player with the white pieces will gain an advantage.@@wearetheborg

Такое впечатление, что в эндшпиле Карпов играл как начинающий шахматист. А вообще-то, при сложившемся балансе, можно было Карпову предлагать Каспарову ничью, а не проверять Каспарова на знание теории

Ничья получилась! Карпов по любому пришлось брать ладью, а оставшимися слоном и конём мат не поставишь.Вот если бы у Карпова вместо двух коней было бы два слона- победа форсированная! А по позиции видно, что после того, как Каспаров отдаёт в принудительное порядке ладью- получается пат, т, к, королю каспарова некуда ходить...

Not against a rook… your opponent will constantly try to exchange the bishop, because two knights can’t mate the king… and you constantly must avoid this capture, very annoying… moreover, it’s safe for the king to wait in a corner where the colour of the square must be the opposite of the opponent’s bishop… there will never be a mate, only a stalemate

No agreement… if Kxf6 the black King can’t move anywhere, so it’s stalemate… and if white King moves elsewhere, then Rxf5 and it’s draw… at the end of the video you can see “Drawn Position”
