Step 1: Laying the foundations (0:46) Daily routine foundational pillars (important and non-negotiable): >wake up time >exercise regimen >meals >wind down time (when you go to sleep) - Determine when these occur to reduce mental energy. Have it already figured out - Enough sleep and regular exercise -> cognitive boost - Do not eat too late at night examples of daily routines: 2:47 Step 2: Adjusting the details (4:06) - Optimize your focused work and study time - When are you the most able to focus? example of focused study block: at least 2-4 hours - Breaks are essential. You can have productive breaks (run errands, take a shower, etc) -> mental recovery, to avoid burnout - Exercise during breaks! for example go on walks - To maintain your sanity: watch your fav show, read, play (board games), etc - Practice mindfulness and reflection anytime during the day (i think journaling or meditation are good examples here) Step 3: Putting it in action (8:53) - How can you make it easier for the future you to follow the plan ? > Use a calendar, save a screenshot of you schedule on your phone, stick it to the wall/on your desk etc. > Set morning alarms across the room - Allocate time to review the results of your routine (reflect on what did work and what didn't) Make adjustments if needed ! Good luck everyone! Enjoy the process and the journey of achieving your goals and becoming the best version of yourself :)

LOVE THIS, thankyou! No one in med school has ever told me to take breaks, it's like a rat race, where taking breaks or having times of demotivation and taking rest from a stressful study routine is looked down upon. It's like you always have to have your A-game and you shan't feel like giving up even once in this journey. Thankyou for this realistic advice, it definitely benefits one more than being constantly told that you don't deserve a place in this field if you've a mindset of taking breaks, even throughout the day or maybe for a few days after finals end.

My routine as I would like it, is waking up at 7, eating and waking up and doing practical stuff like fixing dishes etc, starting productive work at 9, studying with breaks til 11.45, lunch plus doing stuff that needs to be done, study from maybe 13 to 15, then practise at the rink, then just relax and have free time. However that wont give me enough study time. But trying to squeeze in more time makes me exhausted, and I also get too tired after practise and cant do productive work. I go to bed at 22 cuz unfortunately my body needs lots of sleep.. I am a full time student so I constantly feel behind. I dont have practise every day so I try to make up for it on the other days amd on the weekend. Its a balance between studying enough and feeling well..

@@sugarandpie9123 Nothing you can really do. Sleep is extremely essential, especially when revitalizing the brain and flushing out all the toxin build-up from when we were awake. I believe that we are the first mammalian species to encounter this problem. Evolution hasn't figured out a solution to lack of sleep. Therefore, we can see a growing amount of problems that arise from lack of sleep. It's said that even only getting 6hrs can cut your life short for about 10 years.

I’m interested in making a schedule, but I’m never able to stick. What gets me is that no day of mine is really the same, I could be driving out 2hrs for work with about 30 minutes notice, rescuing a friend (more often than you think since we’re all car guys driving unreliable cars), and on top of that when I do wind down and hangout with friends, I have no idea how late ill be out. The only constant I have is a wake time, class time, and at some point in the day i always get a workout in. This has been successful and enjoyable for me, but I know theres room for optimization.

Ok…This is a nice layout for making your schedule. It inspired me. But your cooking time is ridiculously small - mine is 2h30 with cooking, eating and maybe some groceries on the way. Admitedly, I don’t have a dishwasher :( sigh…Also, be it a male schedule, none of you have a cleaning task in the schedule…Cleaning is something you routinely have to do unless you hire someone to do it for you or you do it on weekends (doing it on weekends is not an option for me though)
