Yeah, SL was my first priest maining expac, I quickly found out why the rotation changes so much based on situations. Certain builds have a mix of burst, ramp up, dots, and proc based spikes. So for smaller packs it’s almost not worth dotting more than a few, maybe less than five, and for larger packs it’s almost not worth dotting anything more than just enough to SN. The rotation changes at 3, 5, 8 and 9 mobs and all based off how long the mobs will survive.

@@HenningKilset76 True, but when you perfectly execute your rotation and you're DPS is still far below the 3-4 button pushers, it's a major feelsbadman. That's why I quit in Shadowlands, all it took was one boss mechanic or a small lag spike, and your STM was lost and you'd be shit DPS. I know we SP mains say this before every expansion, maybe they will make us feel good in Dragonflight lol.

Dude like... Ye ok I watched first 2 min and I felt like adding something. Icy veins is so overly simplistic when it comes to rotations its just a starting point and there is so much more to every class and spec. Like enha for example yes you can boil it down to 4 buttons but it goes much deeper when you start looking into procs from talents cd and cdr on cooldowns / covenants etc. But it is still funny that, again icy veins - super simplistic overview of rotation, shows fucking 3 pages spreadsheet for shadow priest rotation. Not really sure if its good because SP have to do different stuff on different target counts or bad because icy veins goes deep into one class but shows others with 3 button rotations which is so not correct and out of touch. Idk. Maybe I add more after I watch the whole video. Edit: Ok ye another banger video. I love Boni! But still just stay away from icy veins unless you are complete beginner to the game :D

It would be cool if you could funnel more meaningful with mind sear/DP onto an important target. But it just doesn't feel worth it, you have to press searing nightmare to beat the tank.

For PvE, I recommend an addon called "Hero Rotation". It recommends each ability while auto-detecting single-target vs. AoE **and** it's based on APL's (action priority lists) that are generated from SIM'ing. You don't have to use it forever, but it might help to build muscle memory for when you have a sense that you have one target vs just a few targets vs a lotta targets. Cheers!

Shadow aoe would be so much more enjoyable if they just swapped shadow crash and searing nightmare, Make shadow crash our aoe spender and it has no cd and make searing nightmare have a 10-15 second cd that you use to spread dots and targets already effected by your dots have them refreshed and gain a shadow vulnerability that increases shadow crash damage by X% and have the duration be short enough to where its not always on the target but long enough to reasonably dump a full insanity bar. Suddenly shadow priest has far more interesting build/spend playstyle that doesn't involve spamming mind sear every gcd.

survival rotation is just wrong, you will do shadowpriest tier dmg if you dont max out refreshes on serpent stings with bomb and bleed tempo gain with killcommand on different targets /carve bleed refreshes. well or you just get lucky with mad bomber proccs/ always roll the best bomb next it's kinda sad how shit hunter guide support is for years now

Don't rely on icyveins for any PVE guides. They've been pisspoor quality all of shadowlands, most of them aren't even updated from 9.0 and recommend extremely out of date builds.
