A: This question fails to understand that the Philippine EEZ is China's target, with or without EDCA, the Philippines will be involved, either we fight them with allies or we fight them alone or we completely surrender our EEZ. Q: Are we sure the US will assist us in a war with China A: EDCA bases will station US troops and equipment on a rotational basis, Imagine what will happen if China attacks those bases and kills a few thousand American troops and billons worth of American infrastructure and equipment in the process. Q: What if China attacks us but does not attack EDCA bases to limit US involvement A: EDCA bases are operated jointly by the US and the Philippines, it is not exclusive to them or us, if they choose not to attack EDCA bases, then our own troops and equipment in those bases will not be attacked as well. Q: Why not put an EDCA base in the EEZ itself A: The same reason why there are also no major Filipino bases in that area, bases are locations where personnel and equipment are stored, maintained and repaired, these bases need to be away from a potential battle area
