If you said your dad is Brazilian I'm really not surprise you got all those African countries. Most of the slaves in the slave trade with two Brazil and they were from all the countries you name except Africa North which comes from your mom side probably. I did this test and my results were pretty on point and when I traced my ancestry back I was able to confirm my European connections to Ireland and Great Britain. You also have to remember that during the colonialism indigenous people were being massacred everywhere. I say this because soooo many people expect to see Native American on their results when the only ancestors who carried the genes probably had only a small percentage of whatever native blood was left and was diluted over the generation. 5% is actually considered kind of high. I was expecting to see Native American on mine as well so imagine how surprise I was when I saw Middle Eastern instead lol

Fascinating results, I might try it even though some have argued its not accurate DNA testing. By the way Habiba, Middle Eastern does not mean Arab, it includes Jewish ppl, Greeks, Armenians, Black Africans who were there due to the Ethiopian empire and Arab slavery which fucked up Africa equally. Lebanon was also part of the Roman empire before the Prophet (saw) later year before his death conquered it. You could be Arab by ethnicity and Arab by language, many present day Arab are not ethnically Arab. Lastly, Brazilians have about 70% of its population of Black Africa and one of the most anti-Black violence in the Americas. After all, 75% of West Africans kidnapped and held in slavery ended up in South America.

This is completely true. My grandfather was born in Saudi Arabia (his parents immigrated from Somalia) so he grew up in Saudi, so did my mother, and I was born here as well. But I identify as an Arabs! because I was born in an Arab country, I speak Arabic, I know the culture/traditions and I don't speak Somali (my grandfather and mother speak Somali though). The point is even though I'm African/black I identify as an arab, if you asked me what I am I'd say I'm arab (no I'm not ashamed of being somali/african) it's just that I feel like if I lived in Somalia I would feel a stranger, unlike if I lived in a middle eastern country I'd feel like I'm home❤️ at the end of the day I'm proud of my heritage and ethnicity. P.s this video made me even more excited/nervous to take a d.n.a test😍

Oh yeah I know Nancy, I am referring to her complete surprise that her mom Lebanese heritage would include less Arab lineage than she thought. Lubna for sure, one could be Arab and Black or white presenting. After all, race is socially constructed by white supremacy to divide and conquer. I was also partly raised in Saudia and have families who were there since Al Saud created present day kingdom, but the older generation were very much true to their Somalinimo. If ppl asked me if I am Arab, I will say I am Black African and like the beloved prophet (saw) said: if you speak the language, you are Arab....as a way to eradicate Arab supremacy and anti Black sentiments.

@inafew7 жыл бұрын
Hello, Thanks for sharing your results. I have a small remark: your 'middle-eastern' part or some of it may not only be from your mom but also from your dad, many Brazilians have Portuguese or Iberian origins who happen to have North African & middle-eastern blood due to the fact that the Moors ruled over the Iberian peninsula for more than 7 centuries, as a matter of fact, the whole Arab/Muslim empire in the 7th century A.D to the 10th was ruled by the Omayads and later by the Abbasids who had their capital in Damascus in today's Syria. Their empire reached from today's Iran across the middle-east and North Africa and ended at the pyrenees in southern France. So the part you think comes from your mom's blood could be your father's or could be from both. That's a great mix, Probably why you got good looks :)

The reason they highlight more than one country is because that region, and all of the countries highlighted in it, share the same DNA patterns. So they can't separate each country, the DNA is too close to call specific countries because of the high rate of migration throughout all of history in countries of close proximity. Very cool results!

Habiba, All Middle Easterns have some considerable combination of Middle Eastern and Caucasus genes. In many ethnology and genetics books Middle Easterns and Caucasus were classified as one subrace of Caucasians (White in general). Check "Other regions commonly seen in people native to the Middle East region" at Ancestry page. You'll see that Caucasus is on the top of the list. When Ancestry lists counties in some region they do it by grouping by percentage of occurrences of genetic markers and population number, then they arrange the groups in the alphabetic order. That's why Armenia is on the top of the list. It's also reflected on the map. The darker area is a region where genetic markers are strongly expressed. For example, Armenians and Azerbaijanis, Georgians are genetically same group, even thought they differ socio-culturally and speak different languages. People in Iberian peninsula have about 15% of Greek/Italian genetic markers. (Greece and Italy are listed in Europe as one region - Italy/Greece). So, since you father is Portuguese in part, it could be from him as well. Thanks for the video!

Lebanese/Syrians tend to have very little Arab DNA in them compared to other Arab countries. It's not totally shocking that you got these results. They share more with the Caucasus region than elsewhere. I'm Syrian, and I'm always either mistaken for Turkish, Armenian, or Lebanese (although that's pretty much the same thing as Syrian). Some also say Greek and Georgian. I have yet to test my DNA, but from the information I can gather of the areas in Syria where my parents are from I doubt I'll have much Arab in me. Not sure about Lebanon, but the highest percentage of Arab DNA in Syria is found in Hama, at around 45%. Damascus is only around 20%, and other areas like Maloula it's 1%. There are several other sites you can upload your DNA to in order to get more specific results. Family Tree DNA is one. I would definitely look into that!
@gypsysoul12458 жыл бұрын
Syrians are ethnically Arameic , south Syria is Arab even pre Islam , cuz the Nabateans are Arab as Herodotus mentioned in his books , but many Syrians from my point of view have Europian features like red hair
@looksitsmaia8 жыл бұрын
+gypsy soul yes, Syrians were originally Aramaic and Phoenician and some still are, but for many that's not the case. It's inevitable that the indigenous people mixed with many others since Syria is historically known to be part of trade routes such as the Silk Road where many have passed through and settled. Syria, through its many forms, is over 10,000 years old. It's been under many empires, so it only makes sense that the people have mixed ancestry. As for south Syria being Arab, I'm assuming you don't mean Syria in its modern day form and borders. You're talking about South Syria which is known as Jordan today and even parts of Saudi Arabia. Yes, they would definitely be more Arab than modern day Syrians and Lebanese. They have a much higher percentage.
@HusseinSalemm8 жыл бұрын
Lebanon was part of Syria until the French came and the people there are mixed just like North Africa maybe more. The 75% in Syria that are Syrian Arab in Syria have a majority of Arab DNA.

@menamena53548 жыл бұрын
Or some have Arab because simply, Lebanese, Syrians, and others immigrated to Brazil as well. Sometimes one doesn't have to reach so far. Brazil has a high immigrant population, including Asians and full blooded Europeans.

Very interesting! Love your video and all the background of your heritage. I'm also part Brazilian, can't wait to do mine!
@ShaniOnSinai8 жыл бұрын
Due to the mass genocide of native tribes in the West Indies and South America, that is usually why the percentage is less and then also over time the assimilation of remaining native Dna. Brazilian has the highest amount of African diaspora of all the west including North America, so that makes sense. It's good to have a sense of where you come from. One day I'd like to get mines done because I have a very large mix in my family.

Habiba Da Silva, many of your Italian and greek DNA could come from roman empire era in both your father and mother DNA.

Maybe from my point of view the African parts of your ancestry are from your Brazilian background, since your da Silva family name will include all the slave population that came from everywhere in Africa. Congratulations for such a rich and varied ancestry!

all Brazilians a a consider part African in them we are the most mixed country in the world and it's mainly mixed with European and african
@ditocerto7 жыл бұрын
Daniela Gonçalves No! Not all Brazilians have African blood. That's a lie! A good portion have African blood yes. But many many whites were invited and moved to Brazil after the abolition of slavery. The native blood is strong as well cause many native women were systematically raped. And even though there are so many people who are black Brazil is still shamefully and highly a racist society.

My parents always tell me I'm fully Albanian, and I have nothing else in me, I'd like to do a DNA test.
@soulsearchtarot8 жыл бұрын
Depends on what part of Albania she's from, if from the Mediterranean, the chances of being mixed with Italian and Greek are very high, if from the isolated continental mountain side, there may even be Visigoth, Celtic, but the base is always Dinaric, for all Balkan people
@florentinatinais66608 жыл бұрын
I'm from Kosovo, my father is from the Gollak Mountians my mothers family they say are originally from Toplica but they got kicked out by Serbs.

Freckles and red hair are very common in my family, so there probably is Celtic in me.
@soulsearchtarot8 жыл бұрын
Florentina Tina Is ok so you're more Dinaric than Mediterranean, and chances are you have some celtic genes since the Celts invaded Illyrians, I'm more Mediterranean, although I have typical Dinaric shaped head and wide-set eyes unlike Southern Albanians who are more Latin (Greko-Roman)

You should have your parents both take the test. Chances are some of that data isn't coming from where you think..

The north African (Algerian/Moroccan) is *NOT* from your dads side. The slaves that went to the Americas were west African. Most Brazilians are a mixture of west African and Portuguese. Some also have the native American in them to. Your mum has north African in her like many Arabs do. Also I'm surprised you were shocked to see African in you wasn't it obvious that Brazilians r mixed with African :-/ how on earth could u be shocked by that!?

You may not be both Italian and Greek. Ancestry DNA is not able to distinguish between Greek and Italian DNA, so you may be just Greek like you previously thought. These tests aren't very specific at disguising between similar ethics group. They're good at telling you what continent you are from, how much African vs Americans vs Europe vs Asia you are for example, but when it comes to specifics like countries/ethican groups they can only give you an estimate.
