CHH, Lionsgate let the Anchor Bay trademark expire. They had bought the entire company, but didn’t renew the name’s trademark because they weren’t using it anymore

I fell in love with collecting movies because of the Anchor Bay tins. My cousin had the full set back in 2003 or so. We watched The Beyond and I was blown away. ❤

Still got my Beyond tin. Anchor Bay and Criterion are the first companies i remember really putting so much time and effort into their releases, i remember being sad when AB slowly withered and died, I'm glad to see they're back

I used to have a lot of these tins. Once I got the 4ks I let them go. My buddy wanted them.

I have The Beyond, Hellraiser, Evil Dead 2, Repoman and Let sleeping corpses lie-tinboxes. I really want Halloween 4-tinbox.

Great episode . I got a copy of the Wickerman wooden box eben it came out - the only things you are missing for extras are 2 cards : an individual chapter guide for each of the different cuts of the film . I had gotten into Anchor Bay in the very early 00’s or even very late 90’s (?) ….. on vhs . They put many of their releases on vhs in plastic clam shell boxes . For Hammer they did a Hammer History ….. the 30 minute shorts hosted by by by Oliver Reed around 1990?? They included the individual episodes as bonus features on their dvds but also did a whole box set with the entire multi part series . Anchor Bay really seems to be the first true Boutique/ Specialty label for home video .

I’ve been collecting movies since the early 90s, on VHS. I loved through the Anchor Bay era, which really paved the way for the collector space that we have today. Some of the coolest AB releases I have purchased over the years include those big tin boxes for Halloween 4 & 5, the Book of the Dead editions of Evil Dead 1 & 2, and the 4 disc Divimax edition of Dawn of the Dead. The Anchor Bay of today is clearly not the same Anchor Bay of old. A good comparison would be Tony Kahn’s ROH. The name was purchased by a rich kid with the bread, but it is nothing like the original era.

My favourite of the tins is THE BEYOND and LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE. The art of the former looks especially good on the tin (the discs themselves are pretty awesome too).

I love the Anchor bay tins. I have the Evil Dead 2, H4, H5, and Hellraiser tins. I bought them brand new day of release back in the day. I got my H4 signed by Danielle Harris and Kathleen Kinmont. My H5 is signed by Danielle Harris. My Hellraiser I actually got Clive Barker, Doug Bradley, Nick Vince, Simon Bamford, and Andrew Robinson all to sign it. They're awesome pieces. -------- There is no Hellbound: Hellraiser tin. Hellbound was included as a bonus disc in the tin.

There were 3 different Evil Dead video games I used to play on ps1 and ps2. All were kinda difficult but definitely a lot of fun back in the day. My personal favorite was “Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick”

I ended up completing my set of the tins this past year. I only had Evil Dead II from back when it came out. They are too bulky but they look really really good sitting on a shelf.

Seems I have two tins you did not show. I love these tins btw! Bulkt and not practicle in a shelf , but as display pieces and collectables they are among the greatest. I have ”Let Sleeping Corpses Lie” and ”Repo Man” as tincreleases. Do not have Maniac, Halloween 4 and Wicker man. Love all those! Among my old Anchor Bay my fsv is my The Blind Dead collection coming in a black coffin. So cool! Cheers!

I have the original Anchor Bay DVD's of Hellraiser and Hellbound, they were released together as a double pack if my memory is right. So I would imagine since there was a tin for the first Hellraiser, that there would be a tin for Hellbound also.
@SunshineLoLypops6 күн бұрын
That's a collection. I have the Hellraiser and The Wicker Man ones. And while not Anchor Bay I have the Pioneer release of "Akira". What was frustrating about these releases was a few would show up at Sam's Club with a heavy discount.

I think the only Anchor Bay tin set I have is Evil Dead 2. The collection here is mainly the Groovy stuff.

Don't put that Maniac CD into a slide in CD player, like one you would find in a car, it may get stuck. Try it in a CD player with a lid like an old walkman, or one with a tray like on a computer.

I have The Beyond and Suspiria. I got them both when they came out. I never got the Evil Dead 2 tin, but I got their Book of the Dead 2 release. Unfortunately, the scream button stopped working. I also have Argento's Opera, which didn't come in a tin, but it's one of those numbered limited releases.

I guess Suspiria didn't come in a tin. Whoops.

Anchor Bay was well loved for using thick and sturdy DVD cases, not those cheap flimsy please recycle cases you get from walmart. Is Anchor Bay using the good sturdy blu-ray cases you can buy as replacement cases? Also is Anchor Bay continuing on with dvd/blu-ray booklets? Chapter stop cards with really cool artwork on the opposite side, makes them super collectible, are those back? These are the things I miss and you're tempting me to commit the biggest purge I have ever done with my collection and keep only the true collectible DVDs and blu-rays.

Fistful of Boomstick is the best Evil Dead game. It's on playstation 2 and original Xbox. I play it through emulation.

I've still got a ton of Anchor Bay releases. I've got the Halloween 25th anniversary DVD, Day of the Dead, the 4 disc Dawn of the Dead , Fulci's Zombie, Evil Dead, Demons, Argento's Inferno, and That limited edition wooden Wicker Man box. I've even got a few Anchor Bay Blu-Rays too. Namely Evil Dead I and II, and Halloween 35th Anniversary. Shit, I've even got the Anchor Bay VHS releases of Halloween and Evil Dead.

This is off-topic, but I have a recommendation for you. It's called I Saw the Devil (Unrated), it's a brutal South Korean revenge movie that I highly recommend if you haven't already seen it.
