Anchoring in the THOUSAND ISLANDS and the COAST GUARD was called on us...

Today we are anchoring in the Thousand Islands for the FIRST TIME! We haven't anchored since our time on the Hudson River, and we are aching to get back into it. Anchoring in general ticks all the boxes for us, and what a place to be, the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence Seaway in between the United States and Canada. It's sunny and the water is clear, everything was going smoothly until a boat honked at us and it turned out that someone called the Coast Guard on us because they thought we were distressed!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from the Loop,
Jennifer and Elliot

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
Thank you for following us along our journey!

You can absolutely transit Canadian waters without reporting to CBSA or any Canadian authorities and Canadians can cross into USA waters. You invoke reporting to CBSA in Canada when you drop anchor in their waters or touch a dock or shoreline. Same for USA. The ArriveCAN app is no longer mandatory so all you have to do is call the national Canadian vessel reporting number. Now if you do report into Canada and upon your return to a USA dock or anchorage, you will have to report to CBP via their app. Remember it’s only when you drop anchor or physically touch the other nations land that you need to report by vessel. The Canadians are also touchy about obtaining a Canadian fishing license if you fish in their waters. You can get day passes online for about $25 .

Your at canoe point state park the beach to your right is a popular hang out when the wind is blowing downriver . To your stern is eel bay very popular for sunsets and other romantic things 🤪. My cottage is a dingy ride away . Foxys restaurant is very close . Yes you can hear loons , coyotes, and a lot of bald eagles 🦅. Wish I knew you where there then . Also a lot of mallard 🦆 ducks in the area .

You can learn to make a Loon call (by cupping your hands together) by searching "Making a loon call" on youtube ......Oh !!! and they are solitary birds and like to have the lake all to themselves so if you get good a calling they will respond.

@@craigfitzsimmons7077 the cormorants here on the Chesapeake Bay and tributaries are native and just another fish eating bird. Are you still out there looping? What was the highlight of the loop for you? I'm planning on attempting it this year, but I have to admit that the ICW in the south eastern part of the country doesn't have the best scenery. Not starting in the Hudson and through the Trent-Seven canal looks great and even the Great Lakes I think will be nice. Seems like this makes the whole journey worthwhile.
@SchoandJo

Love you guys! I wanted take the time to comment today as a fellow drone pilot. Your drone footage was awesome, by the way, and I particularly appreciate the great job both of you are doing with all of your editing on the channel. Very professional looking work. But I do want to caution you though. By any chance are you a Part 107 licensed commercial drone pilot? The reason I ask is that if your channel is monitized, then the drone flying you are doing is commercial, not recreational. And you need a commercial license in order to display your footage on KZbin. Also, on a previous video I saw you flying your drone directly over the crowd at a street fair (it was a couple of videos back). And you need to know that flying over people as a recreational pilot is strictly forbidden by the FAA, and you can get into a boatload of trouble (big fines) if the FAA discovers your footage. As a commercial licensed pilot it is mostly forbidden as well, although there are exceptions. I am only bringing this up because the FAA fines are HUGE. Take a look at this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJOWk6Geor2mqdk. Just thought you might want to know. Oh, and be particularly careful when flying the drone in Canada. I understand their drone laws are much more stringent than the FAA rules. Keep up the great work that you guys do. I love this channel All the best, Jim Andersen, CatBoat Adventures

@jrschantz

You can cross the border without reporting as long as you don't "land" which would include anchoring. Merely cruising into Canadian water does not qualify as entry.
