R/S RocketShip is a unique cargo ship used to transport rockets from United Launch Alliance's (ULA's) 1.6 million square foot production facility in Decatur, AL. RocketShip has been in use for nearly two decades, bringing Delta IV rocket stages to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL, and Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. In 2011, it started carrying Atlas V stages and recently transported Vulcan Centaur stages. RocketShip is a highly maneuverable, unique custom-built rocket transport ship able to navigate both rivers and open ocean--the only U.S. flagged ship with this versatility. The roll-on, roll-off cargo ship is 312 feet long, weighs nearly 19 million pounds, has complete living quarters and dining area for its crew of 16, a heli-pad on the top deck, a below-deck machine shop and sophisticated computers and navigational aids on the bridge.

The R/S RocketShip was formerly the M/V Delta Mariner. The Delta Mariner has the dubious history of running into and knocking down one of the spans of Eggner Ferry Bridge in January, 2012. Eggner Ferry bridge is the first bridge you passed under after transiting the connector canal. It caused a significant economic impact on the region since is blocked reasonable access into the western part of the state with traffic having to move further north or south to cross KY Lake. The span was replaced with a temporary span within a few months and the entire bridge was replaced some years later.

Brenton, these videos are going to cost me money, my wife wants to trailer our sail boat to the head waters of Kentucky Lake and sail all the way back to Key Largo, Florida. It would be a cool adventure, but not sure if our sailboat is the right vehicle. It's a 2020 Corsair 880 Sport Trimaran, it's almost 29 feet long. It has a small galley, large salon, and a head with a shower. We use a composting toilet in it. We cook and shower via propane, we have one of those on demand hotwater heaters, we also make are own freshwater via a portable Rainman reverse osmosis system. The mast on this boat is 39 feet tall so we should fit under most bridges, but if not, the mast is carbon fiber and can be taken down in about 10 minutes. This boat is wicked fast, under sail with the lightest wind we can reach 12.7 knts. easily. We have reached 21.3 knts with the right conditions. Even if we had to motor it has a 9.8 Yamaha outboard on it that at 60% power we can do about 7.1 knots and burn under 1/2 gallon of fuel. This trip is in the planning stages right now but most likely going to happen...

My plan too. I am prepping an Alberg 30 sailboat with a binnacle mast setup. Raise and lower at will with the electric windlass - - got a ways to go yet maybe next fall or the following spring and spend the summer on the lakes

That sounds like a really nice set up. We're meeting a lot of folks out here on sailboats. They're capable of going "outside" of the ICW down here in Florida and really make some time if they want to. That's where the sailboats shine

A lot of the channels I follow and watch regularly tend to get a little to long. 20 - 40 minutes is about my sweet spot. I am always longing for a longer video when I watch your channels. We used to see eagles grabbing salmon out of the Kenai and Russian Rivers in Alaska pretty often. It would actually be kind of funny to see one grab onto a fish that was too big and be too stubborn to let go. Although you would be surprised at just how big of fish they can get airborne with. One of my employees loved to tell a story of catching a Red (Sockeye) and an Eagle snatched it out of the river just as he was getting ready to land it.

@@backwatersandbackroads They are a pain to clean, you have to take them to the Mt. fish and game shack on the shore and they collect the eggs. You yusta be able to keep the eggs and make your own caviar. Then you cut just back of the head and down to spine do not cut through yet, got the base of the tail and make the same cut around the spine. go back to the while someone is pulling and twisting the tail cut through the spine at the head. pull the spinal cord out with the tail. Now you can cut it into stakes. you do not want the spinal fluid on the meat. Cut off any dark meat then soak in salt water to get rid of the muddy flavor. The first time I ate one it was boiled in some kind of broth and it was gray and blaw tasting. the next time it was breaded and not much better. We made our own caviar and that was the best, So leave it to the Government to screw up something that was good. We go up there now catch them and have someone on shore with a lit cigar take photos of us with the fish in the water then use the cigar to burn the line to fake a lost fish. I have counted coo on several paddle fish but have not taken one home in years. It is better to leave them alive and breeding.

In this situation you are considered to be heading out to sea, so Red Right Returning is reversed. You have by now experienced the yellow tags on Buoy's of shipping channels along the Gulf Coast.. Those are fun as well The ULA Ship is transporting NASA Stuff.... The Nasa Ship is also responsible for the newest Bridge on the Lakes there as I go out of the channel and hit the bridge causing major damage to it!

Red right return is for when you return to port from the sea. I'm not sure what it means on inland waterways.

Looking forward to meeting up with you whenever you’re near Jacksonville. How would I get in touch with you when you get close? We can take you for a gas run and a grocery store if you need it. Dan.

How can I PM you? I have purchased an Eagle 40 twin diesel offshore trawler, I am a disabled veteran and can't afford to park my house at a marina. Does anyone have any knowledge of rafting spots, the boats locations or gatherings? Or even the community spots on the rivers in middle Tennessee?

I do believe the seaark would be a good platform. The same company made a houseboat for a short time called the "Nomad" not to be mistaken with the Nimble Nomad. Look one up

Oh yeah! I remember now. Thank you very much. Currently I’m building out a 17 foot canoe with the lower end of a 30 pound trolling motor mounted in the rear 100 amp lithium 600 W solar. Actuators to raise the engine and turn the engine. Quite a fun engineering job for a non-engineer😂🤣
