Very good system for the chain markings and bridal attachment. Best I've ever seen. Cheers Warren

Hello Trimaran spirit👋 Really like your new video format with spirit having a voice too She seam to be very impressed with what your doing day by day as am I. I am nearing the end of faring and painting FX inside and out with another month or so to go and I am considering installing the same anchor system as I saw you had on spirt 1, FX’s older sister I was just curious to know what you had underneath to tie the anchor spirit inner end to the deck and hull The forces involved with anchoring are immense with the windage so it’s difficult for me to gauge the laminates needed. As part of the bow rebuild I would like to also incorporate a connection for the code0 pole as well. The carbon pole came with the boat and looks like a small jib stay pole which I is used on mono hull to increase sheet angle outboard so has a clip that hooks on to a metal loop. Possibly I could put different ends on the pole in I see a good idea. The bow is atm very weak and thin laminate on the top with broken/missing wood underneath so need lots of thought so come up with a strong result that will secure the boat I’n a storm. Your idea I could see would work on FX as she has the same fore deck well. I think a boat with out a good anchor system is a liability so hopefully I can make a good system Good winds and flat sea

Hi we used carbon unis to tie the prodder/anchor roller into the bow. The loads are big but with a few solid laminates of 640 DB we had plenty of strength. Best of luck 🤙

Nicely described method, you know @0515 at the start of your spares and equipment display the stainless steel T-bar tool looks more like a coconut tap than a T handle fid or rigging tool.....please explain
@TrimaranSpiritXL4 жыл бұрын
Very well spotted!! It is a coconut tap but we keep it in with our fid and rope tools
@bunyipdan4 жыл бұрын
@@TrimaranSpiritXL Yes well I had to look twice, nealy got away with it, maybe you could do a short video on coconut harvesting and show other cruisers the easy way to get into a coconut ;). Was also wondering why you don't use a short length of chain on your stern anchor system, and have a float handy to facilitate quick disconnect and easy collection
@TrimaranSpiritXL4 жыл бұрын
@@bunyipdan Reason we don't use chain on the stern anchor is that 1- we don't need it as it sets fine with the 3 stand nylon and we try very hard to only carry what we need onboard. Spirit is a very minimal boat and she really dictates that we only carry the necessities. Great idea on the coconut video maybe we'll do that ;-)

Thanks for sharing. What's the distance between you amas cleats. Need to setup this bridal system on my tri. We have a 10.2m beam. 14.5m length. About 9m centre to centre on the amas cleats. What length would you make the bridals? Cheers
@TrimaranSpiritXL3 жыл бұрын
Hey our beam was 11m so very similar to yourself. I’d make them around 8m each and see how that goes. You can always shorten them if there’s any want.

@@TrimaranSpiritXL I will give it a go. Like the hook up to the chain at 10m intervals as well.

Hi. Very efficent boat indeed! Btw, how was the water quality at Naiharn? And were there many mosquitos while you were asleep?
@TrimaranSpiritXL4 жыл бұрын
HI the water in Nai Harn can be lovely but obviously this can change with the weather and conditions but from November through to April it's normally very nice and there's NO mosquitos. We've never used or had to use a mosquito net onboard Spirit :-)

Agree with the comments. Smart system. Something like a yellow line would be easier to see.

Yeah we’ve implemented the same system for the bridle attachment on Spirit XL and it’s so cool and so easy to use and setup.
@LoanwordEggcorn4 ай бұрын
@@TrimaranSpiritXL I like that it combines length marking and an easy to use soft shackle at the same time. The relatively short radii of the chain and hook may be a bit harder on the dyneema, but it's relatively easy to inspect when deployed and retrieved.
@budawang774 жыл бұрын
Nice video. I'm surprised you carry 10 mm chain and not 8 mm due to the extra weight. I have a big, heavy monohull and use 8 mm and have never had a problem with it.
@TrimaranSpiritXL4 жыл бұрын
Yes we get this often as Spirit is very light a lot of people ask why we use such heavy chain. The reason is windage and inertia. As Spirit is very light when we get a gust of wind on anchor she can do upwards of 3kts, which pulls up very hard on the anchor and chain and 8mm just inset enough weight to act as catenary. We did use 8mm for five years and sailed halfway around the world with it but it just wasn't enough for safe anchoring in deep water :-)
@budawang774 жыл бұрын
@@TrimaranSpiritXL Great reply. I knew you had a good explanation! It's counter intuitive that a heavy boat can get away with lighter chain than a much lighter boat, but it makes sense.
@LoanwordEggcorn2 жыл бұрын
@@budawang77 E =mv^2, so he's right, the velocity of boat movement matters disproportionately more than the mass of the boat. (And being light, it's more easily moved by windage.) Spirit was a former racing boat if I recall correctly.

@daveamies50314 жыл бұрын
Spirit is a one off formula 40 you can see the details here trimaranspirit.weebly.com/spirit.html FYI most trimarans are not mass produced, there are a few exceptions, but generally if you buy a Tri your boat will be unique, it's both a blessing and a curse, but it's one of the quirks of trimaran ownership.
