love this deck, does really well against zard and really easy to quickly set up. Though my list is a bit different i do use slither wing instead of tusk to instantly dunk the iron hands deck into the ground, and easily one shots rotom and hands if i end up having a slow start. Was able to smack 340 in the late game but zard hasn't been an issue too much for me

I make to 2nd place last weekend with this list, I had an extra energy instead of heavy ball loosing to zard as expected. I like this deck.

Hey Azul, Jamison bulloch here, I’m the australia player that invented the pre rotation roaring moon ex iron hands ex deck. I just finished 1st place in a league cup on the weekend with one of my brand new lists, it’s ancient box with twilight inspiration slowbro and Thorton. It changes a lot of its unfavourable matchups to favourable and gives you extra win conditions. 100% recommend giving it a go if you enjoyed the roaring moon ex + iron hands ex gameplay.

Doesn’t thorton only swap basics? Seems quite clunky to run a 1-1 slowpoke slowbro and on top of that a thorton in an already tight list

@@treehouse1998 you evolve the slowbro on the turn you play Thorton, if you can’t evolve it over two turns. Also, yea it’s clunky but also you can actually pull it off heaps of times because ancient box lets you deck yourself out and choose what cards to put in the deck after 5/6turns, this lets you iono proof your hand and pretty easily set up the combo.

You have to evaluate the meta to see if you really need it, my personal opinion is that in the current meta noivern is not enough popular to argue the inclusion

Ancient Box it just not strong enough against Charizard. I was grinding with it for a while. But, it almost always loses to Charizard.

Played Chien Pao at a cup recently and ancient box was the only matchup I lost to during swiss, really difficult to keep up in the prize trade - I always felt one turn behind my opponent even while practicing. Any advice in the matchup as the Pao player?

The only thing you can do is setup Greninja/Iron Hands and hope they brick. Prize trade is really rough with Chienpao because of the 140hp/200hp of Moons.

Best way i can think of is greninja loop and only keep single prizers in play

@@XanXinGames You will run out of resources so fast. Only 4 superiors. And if they get capsules, greninja is not even two-shotting them. Basically if ancient box sets up, you take that L as a chien Pao player and move on.

@@fizzyadrenaline2138 It’s funny you say that, because after all of my practice matches against ancient box I came out with the same conclusion. Some matchups just aren’t meant to be, so I didn’t take it too hard. Glad to see I wasn’t coping super hard though. 😭

@@sampeeters2935 I mean chien pao has always struggled with single prizers. To combat that, came the need to play iron hands. But when single prize Pokémon’s are reaching 200 hp, that’s not going to change the match in your favor. All decks have some bad matchups, and this is chien paos.

Oke hear me out: why don’t we play arven ? So that we can always grab the item we need with a ancient capsule ? I mean explorer misses so many times

You dont often need the capsule for anything other than being another Ancient card in the discard. Same thing with Explorer, being an Ancient card itself helps add the ancient count alot faster. While it might feel bad to discard good cards, being able to dump extra ancients is too important to use Arven instead
