ANCIENT BRITON CHIEFTAIN Interview Military Odyssey 2014:
Watch this fascinating interview I did with a Ancient Briton Chieftain! This interview was great and it was so cool to see some re-enactors wearing this full gear! Listen out for the bit about shrunken heads!
ENJOY! Please 'Like', Subscribe, and 'Share'! More videos on the way!
All footage taken on my Canon EOS 60D DSLR Camera (Canon Digital Camera). Also using Image Stabilization lenses (Macro Lens, and Telephoto Lens - just the original kit lenses that came with the camera, and a 50mm F 1.4 Lens). For my camera tripod I use a lightweight Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod, and for sound capturing I use a Rhode Directional Condenser Video Microphone (Rhode VideoMic) which I think does a great job! I hope to upgrade soon, but I thought the outcome so far is pretty good!
The Military Odyssey show is not just Battle Reenactments, there are vast displays of classic ex military vehicles, classic cars, living history encampments, vintage weapons sales (like swords, armour, rifles, pistols, sub machine guns, etc), military surplus supplies, ammunition, military uniforms, military accessories, and much more. You cold not see it all in a day even if you tried!:) Bring your spending money if you go...you never know you may have the urge to buy a tank:) But I hate to think what the insurance would be on a thing like that!:S
ENJOY the video!!! Please subscribe and 'Like' as I have more videos on the way!
(Footage taken at the Military Odyssey 2014 held at The Kent Show Ground, Detling, Near Maidstone, Kent.)

Great interview! I find the ancient britons quite interesting myself. There's a historical novel I used to read called "Beric the Briton" written by G.A. Henty. I remember it contained a lot of information about the britons in it that I found interesting. It isn't exactly great writing on the story side of it, but as a teen I found it enjoyable.

Celtic Law was hilarious. One of my favorites was that if a wife caught her spouse cheering on her and she murdered him or his lover within 3 days she would not be charged with murder as they would be considered to be not in control of their own actions and there for not guilty of the crime.

it is not roman propaganda, normally an Army has to hate his enemies, so every emperor, general etc has to make about the enemy a bad impression to the soldiers. (wait... maybe it is propaganda... meh roma invicta) Celts were anyway great blacksmiths, and very good soldiers... we italians had them too in the northern italy. thank you for this amazing video anyway.... and about the chariots... rome doesn't need them, rome used them for ceremonies or other things, and look at the battle of Watling Street ...Celts are a great colture anyway. @@sjewitt22 That was supposed to be ironic. Sure Cameron made it part of his 2015 campaign but UKIP had been floating the idea since the mid 2000's. You are probably too young to remember the debate that went on in Britain after joining the EU and especially the 1975 referendum. Not to mention the Labour Party discussion on withdrawal in the 1980's. So no, not a stretch for someone to be uttering Brexit (what would come to be called Brexit) style ideas in 2014, there's a long history to it. As a South African with family ties to the UK the whole issue of the EU in British politics has always fascinated me. Like watching a car wreck that you were not involved in.

So I came here to hear about Briton gear and such out of curiosity, and all I hear is bashing of Romans. pathetic. and no numb nuts Romans did not steal from the Greeks, Romans are descendants of Greeks, Sabine (spartan tribes) in Italy mixing with Trojan remnants, so ,Thats like saying Greeks copied Greeks lol, fool they simply had it because their Greek ancestors had knowledge of it first. In terms of chainmail, Romans invented chainmail too they only copied the double shoulder layer from the celts, otherwise they would simply use lorica squamata which was better than chainmail anyway but more expensive. The helmets they did very much copy from celts simply because before all they had was Trojan style or Corinthian and other greek variants of helmets that were highly effective but very restricting on the senses. Women... proper Roman women were also very much equal in Roman society but they had a duty to fullfill to keep society going, just as Roman men had their duties to uphold society as well. so enough with the anti-Roman bullshit. by the way, I still value the celts, britons, germanics etc.

Chainmail was invented by the Helvetii around 600bc. Those reenactors got that right. The romans copied it and used it during the republican era already, calling it Lorica Hamata. The Lorica Segmentata came later, and was used by Legionaires, while the Auxiliarii kept using the Hamata. The roman Gladius was copied off a celtiberian sword style. The 'modern' roman helmets were copied (and improved) celtic styles. Romans also copied 'modern' mathematics and geometry from the greeks (the ones living in greece) While the people on the italic peninsula had already taken on an identity for themselves, after being greek colonies. Though not all of italy was greek colonies.
