I remember playing this for the first time in band and we finished the sight read and our Director asked if any of us had played this before (None of us had ever played this) because we sight read it beautifully and kept track of key changes and tempo changes. overall a fun sight read for me

played this sophomore year on tenor. my section nicknamed it “the bagpipe song” (for some reason the 6/8 portion sounded like bagpipes to us haha) but it was definitely one of the coolest winter concerts we’ve ever had

the part at the end where it has an eighteenth note pattern that switches between 7/8s and 4/4 time is giving me lots of trouble and at the end where the lead trumpet player plays the high B, i can barely hear him. i don’t know how to play loud enough to get it to come through without being muffled by percussion but still soft enough to make it not sound like ear rape.
