Absolutely love this documentary, I'm incredibly honored to have been a part of it. We had so much fun filming that day, thank you for inviting me to a site I wouldn't have otherwise seen. To think, many years ago I found your youtube channel and documentaries and left you comments, to have eventually met you while I create videos of my own now. What a journey it's been Curtis, you have a very bright future and I can't wait to see more documentaries of yours😊

@CurtisRyanWoodside I just checked my book case, and I can't find the one I've mentioned. I had to give away quite a few very expensive hard backs to the library. I needed more room. For the life of me, I don't even remember the author or title. I do recall reading this over 40 years ago, I do remember the female queen who worshipped the crocodile. The queen would go regularly in a boat and feed the crocodiles to pay homage, but that's about all I can remember. I apologise if I gave the wrong impression. I know you have an immense amount of knowledge, so would know everything written about the queen. I do love your journeys, I hope you continue far into the future. Cheers Rosemary

Fascinating lesson as usual Curtis glad I waited for a time so I could be rested and have apt attention. Crocs are cute when they are little but scary when they are adults. I have to wonder if they ate them as well the pharaohs and princesses. Or did they use them as just pets or implements of power. Also always amazed how all of this is preserved from further deterioration. Great guest speakers as well :) Amazing stuff :) thank you :)

Had not heard of this lady before but she got me thinking of other female rulers in history (other than the Egyptian ones!) Semiramis in Assyria/Babylon though she is semi legendary. Then empress Wu in China and also the female empresses (in their own right in the Byzantine empire aka Eastern Roman empire) like Pulcheria, Irene and Zoe. Zenobia in Palmyra and in western Europe Urraca in medieval Spain, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and in England Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII first female ruler of England )If we except the empress Mathilda) Mary of course was followed by Elizabeth the First -one of Britain's greatest. There were female rulers in Poland who took the title of king. Catherine the First and Catherine the Great in Russia and Maria Theresa whose accession to the Habsburg throne in Austria triggered the War of the Austrian Succession but she held on to her title despite. Queen Victoria who defined the nineteenth century and finally Elizabeth the Second.

Im only about 15 minutes in and i absolutely love the video. I want to start by saying i do not romanticise ancient civilizations. I recognize that only elite benefited and everyone else was a slave more or less. Thar said, I've been learning about the ancient greek culture and their use of medicine. It was rarher advanced. To treat snake bites they needed antidotes for example, a common problem. The way it was done constitutes the ancient rites and mysteries which involve children. The children would be administered daily doses of venoms and medicines. Their body fluids would become the cure. This is just one example of the various rites that existed. I have come to wonder, did they also knowingly or unknowingly discover stem cells? They worked with infants and fetuses. Its not hard to get bone marrow. I wonder if they mixed the two? They were known for making pastes using herbs and animal parts so why not? Why i bring this up is ive wondered if Sobek was such a hybrid. Was he the result of crocadile bone marrow fused with a fetus resulting in some augmented human? Was this how gods were "engineered"?

Excellent. These are television quality documentaries. I think the name " Sesostris" should not be used. " Sen ru set " sounds better and is Egyptian. Those kings should be named by their Egyptian name Senruset. Basically I don't think Greek pronunciations should be used naming Egyptian kings.

The first female pharaoh was Merneith of the first dynasty.

we don't know if she really excited or if she was similar to Menes who could have been a mythological figure. If she was real, we can't even be sure she was a woman or a man. Not 100% confirmed yet

@@CurtisRyanWoodside I thought Menes and Narmer were the same person but there’s some substantial information that has been documented about her but you’re right it’s not totally confirmed yet.
@CurtisRyanWoodside
@CurtisRyanWoodside 4 ай бұрын
Namer is thought to be Menes, however that too is not confirmed. Most Greek sources are proving more and more to be wrong with succession, timeline and names. Merineith may have been a man, or she may not have been real at all. Only two references are found of her name, and neither suggest she was a pharaoh. So for now Sobekneferu is the first confirmation we have. And earlier female would be khentkhawes from the end of the 4th dynasty that is more plausible
