Average lifespan was skewed by infant mortality. It isn't like you will be considered old at 37 in a region with average lifespan of 30. If you survive as a child, there was a great possibility that you will reach old age.

There is two things I would like to mention is that there is a recording done by the BBC in 1938 about the Pharaoh Tutankhamun's trumpets. There was an attempt to play the trumpets. Starting with the silver trumpet but the silver trumpet fragmented but the trumpet was reconstructed and so the copper trumpet was played using a modern mouth piece and a good sound was produced. Also one of the cups of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun has a little surprise to it. If you shine a light in one of the cups there will show a scene of Tutankhamun and his great wife having a tender time with each other. It is really sweet to see it.

Another beautiful documentary. Well done Curtis! Much appreciated. I would only suggest you check if the Hittites had really lost the battle against the Egyptian army. Despite the Egyptian figures on the stone walls indicating it was a big win for Seti the 1st (and Ramesses II) and his army, the clay tablets from Hattusas indicate that it was a war with no winning side which eventually led to both sides (Ramesses II and Muvattali) coming to an agreement known as the Kadesh peace treaty (1269 B.C.).

I was lucky enough to take my family to see the treasures of Rameses II as the collection toured the US. It was a phenomenal experience especially considering the fact that the collection was only. A fraction of his true wealth. My only regret is that I was unable to see King Tutankhamun's collection during its tour.

Bravissimo! I too remember visiting the mummy room in the Cairo Museum. The mummies were on very low podiums. I had to kneel down to look into the face of Ramses The Great for about 10 minutes. Like you I was just overwhelmed looking into the face of history. Thank your for fantastico video.

Im obsessed w/ anything Egyptian history. It’s truly fascinating , and I always love learning about Egyptian history I’ve never heard about before! I remember I was about 12 going to the Met to see the King Tut exhibit in NYC, as my Mom was studying Egyptology in college. I remember being so impressed and interested in the exhibit, and it’s never stopped since. Although when I did finally get the chance to go to Egypt, our guide iwas unable to get tickets to go into the pyramids, and I was so disappointed!! I remember him telling us they only allow 150 people in in the morning & in the afternoon because of the sweat from the people ruins the limestone! But still, imagine going all the way to Egypt and not being able to go into the pyramids. Ugh, so disappointed !! Who knows if I’ll go back, although I probably will because there is still so much I want to see!!!Thx for such a very well made & informative video!

Egypt is such a wonderful place to visit. The Egyptian people were very friendly and the ancient monuments are awe inspiring! I travelled there with my husband and a running club. Our trip took place in January of 2017. I feel fortunate to have travelled before COVID and wearing masks because conversing with natives are part of the experience of traveling.

You bring all of this history together in such lifelike ways. Not all of us can visit places like this of course ,and it is wonderful to have this opportunity to have you give so much help in the history and actually the ablity to get to know the truth of all of the characers that played such an imporant part in the history of mankind.( Or as close as possible.) I wer eyeliner and feel thi connection with Egyptions, nd always hve for soem strange reasons? I am not 72 yrs oldd, my hair is brown *naturally too, or mostly, as a tiny bit of grey is trying to pop in* but anyway *hope i am noot juged oon this* but still wear eyeliner but have tried to cut it down a litte bit. When friends says " Why do you wear makeup?" I say " Because I want to, as I do like it" But do not wear so much face makeup mostly light color on the lipstick and the eyeliner and mascara and if I do not have pink on cheeks that day I will put a little lipstick on it, and just shine it a bit. Now I know I must end wearing it one day soon, I suppose, but just have trouble with this "habit?" But canot help but wonder why On earth this has stuck with meso much? Maybe no connection at all, but we all have our own quirks of what we like or not. Just enjoy so much getting to know more and more about Egypt and its people. Thank you!

There was a strong familial resemblance between that entire family! It's also believed that it were the priests that robbed those tombs having lost most of their property and finances during the reign of Ahknaten. And it were the priests who rewrapped and placed the bodies together in 1 location, I believe. That was considerate.

Great documentary. A lot of the defamation and appropriation of the monuments of Hatshepsut are said to have taken place during the 19th Dynasty. It would make sense if the destruction occured around the time Taoweset was in power. The family faction supporting male rule would have tried to re-write history. A phenomenon common in politics of all ages.
