Herodotus on Colchis: [2.104] There can be no doubt that the Colchians are an Egyptian race. Before I heard any mention of the fact from others, I had remarked it myself. After the thought had struck me, I made inquiries on the subject both in Colchis and in Egypt, and I found that the Colchians had a more distinct recollection of the Egyptians, than the Egyptians had of them. Still the Egyptians said that they believed the Colchians to be descended from the army of Sesostris. My own conjectures were founded, first, on the fact that they are black-skinned and have woolly hair, which certainly amounts to but little, since several other nations are so too; but further and more especially, on the circumstance that the Colchians, the Egyptians, and the Ethiopians (Nubians), are the only nations who have practised circumcision from the earliest times.

So the Egyptians depicted foreigners as alien and dangerous, but 'in reality' foreigners lived perfectly Egyptian lives? Egyptians depicted foreigners as very distinct in dress and attire, but 'in reality' they all more or less dressed the same? What is this guys ancient Egyptian reality based on, if its not the actual ancient Egyptian sources?
@manichaean18883 жыл бұрын
It it simple. For example, the Soviet art loved to depict the various peoples of the USSR in their national costumes. But in reality, in everyday life you would hardly distinguish an Estonian from a Kazakh other than by facial features. Most of them perceived themselves as Soviet people first, and by their nationality second. With the breakup of the USSR and rise of nationalism they all became identifying themselves by their smaller ethnicity.
@vogelszijnlelijk3 жыл бұрын
@@manichaean1888 It is not that simple. You just posit a random example of art not matching reality, without any connection to ancient Egypt at all. That is not obvious at all. Kemitic Spirituality is based on the Organizing Principle "Collective Empathy for ALL Spirits" based on "Expanded Perception of the One Law". This was expressed through the Sacred Science and the Ethical Principles codified in the 21 Laws of Maat. Christianity, Islam and Judaism are based on the Organizing Principle "Collective Antipathy for ALL Spirits" based on "Limiting Perception of the One Law". This is made clear in the monotheistic concept of a 'killer god', Chosen and Not Chosen people, and the oppression of women, among others. The tools of Collective Antipathy, which are always practiced together are; White Supremacy, Patriarchy, Empire, killer god religions and ideologies, Ritualized Child Abuse, Avarice and Constant Warfare. Don't confuse the 'appropriation without recognition' of some Kemitic concepts with the concepts themselves, as the actions are diametrically opposed.

@vnorm29072 жыл бұрын
The first line of evidence in favor of an African origin of Egyptian civilization comes from the Egyptians themselves. They called their land "Kamit," i.e., "the Black Land," and their own name for themselves was "Kamiu," which translates literally as "the Blacks." Their word for the African lands to the south of them was "Khenti" -- "Khentiu" denoting the Sudanic peoples who lived there -- and this is also their word for "first, foremost, beginning, origin, chief." Furthermore, the Egyptian word for "east" is the same as their word for "left" and their word for "west" the same as their word for "right." This makes sense only if the Egyptians oriented themselves southward and looked in that direction for the land of their origins. No people coming from north of Egypt would have oriented themselves in this way -- particularly since Egypt's location in the northern hemisphere lends itself more naturally to a northward orientation. Further evidence is found in the Egyptians' anthropomorphic representations of the passage of the sun across the heavens, in which the boat of the sun begins its morning or eastern ascent on the left side of the sky-goddess Nut -- who thus is in a southern heaven despite Egypt's northern hemispheric location. Moreover, whenever Egyptian inscriptions refer to Egyptian origins, the land of Punt -- present-day Somalia and northern Kenya -- is pointed to as the ancestral homeland. One word for inner Africa, "yau," is the same as their word for "old," making inner Africa "the old country" of immigration. Inner Africa also was Ta-Neter, "the Land of the Gods." Everything about the interior of Africa evoked in the Egyptians a sense of awe, reverence and nostalgia.

Before everyone mentioning Tutankhamon was R1b which is a speculation only check the already pupblished data for the Near East which show migrations. So it should not ne surprising that people migrated to Egypt like to all other places. Already we know Hyksos were from West asia as well as some migrations in the founding of the Dynadtic period already known by archeology since a century.

Here's something else to add to your sense of Cognitive Dissonance. The megalithic structures across Greece, including the structure upon which the Parthenon sits, was built by Black people. Kemit, like Sumer, Greece, Min-Anu (Minoan) and Ka-Anu (Canaan) only became 'ethnically diverse' AFTER the hybrid invasions, SEVERAL THOUSAND YEARS AFTER THESE CIVILIZATIONS WERE CONSTRUCTED. The 'first' Semitic hybrids were the Akkadians who invaded Sumer around 2150 BCE (they were expelled by the Sumerians by 2050 BCE). The 'first' Indo European hybrids were the Hittites whose earliest appearance is 1600 BCE. Anything built BEFORE these dates (and a lot constructed after), were built by Homo Sapiens WITHOUT Neanderthal genes, in other words 'unmixed Africans'. No amount statues with the 'noses mysteriously knocked off, altered murals, or lying 'Peer Reviewed Experts' can change that fact.

Kemit's history according to the Palermo Stone and the Turin Cannons dates from 34,000 BCE. Recent geological and astronomical discoveries date the Sphinx to, at least 10,700 BCE. What would really be interesting is someone (obviously not these people) doing a video about the civilizations around the planet, that date to BEFORE the Magnetic North Pole Shift in 10,520 BCE, several of which are in the America's. The focus would be on the people who rebuilt these civilizations, using similar but inferior technologies. In the America's that would be the Xi (Olmec), Anu-sazi (Anasazi) and the Mound Builders.

America. Not Americas. There is one continent. America. It wasn't until the 1950's that Anglo Europeans in the US started that propaganda because of the nascent civil rights movements. Wanting to separate the US from the rest of America that spoke Spanish and were Catholic. They also created an identity of Hispanic. Hispanic is European from Spain and Portugal. When Africans speak only English they aren't automatically British or Britanic by some magic wand. So why are Americans whose languages were erased and forced to adopt a European one automatically Hispanic because of language? There ethnicity didn't change. They are still the Americans in America before 1492. You don't stop being African because you don't speak an African Indigenous language. But the Anglos do apply that rule to Americans who don't speak an Indigenous American language. Like Spanish and they call the people Hispanic. Making the people think they are foreigners in their own land. Very sad.

The British Meseum has long stated that Ancient Egyptian culture is closely related to African Cultures than to any other. That particular culture just so happened to have reached its peak in Egypt. But lesser sophisticated versions of that culture can still be seen all over Africa till this day. As a Zimbabwean I can share some of the similarities I see from my own people to those of Ancient Kemet. In Zimbabwe when a King dies he is drained of all moisture (blood and internal organs) then dried then mummified by covering with either bull skin or linen then they are placed in a Mountain cave that is specifically for deceased kings, they are not buried under the ground as they were and still are believed to be Ancestors in the next life just like in Ancient Egypt, the mountain caves are essentially less sophisticated natural burial pyramids. Also in Zimbabwe up until recently in the 18th century Incest was a mandatory requirement of all Royal ascension by any new king. Also in Zimbabwe we have a stone masonry culture of mortaless building style similar to that of early dynastic Egypt. I can go on and on. But what I'm saying is, civilisations peak in a place where different people and ideas meet. Had Ancient Egyptians not left the Horn of Africa for Egypt they probably would not have achieved as much as they did. The sea network made Egypt a success but go deeper in to Africa and you will see that Kemet didn't fall from the sky.

Also we need to study hair styles, myyr, trees, animals, the ancient pharaohs. You can look and tell who this ppl are, with their big broad nose and big lips. The short answer could be in front of our eyes. The long answer is they ended up being mixed like many societies. Also what do African/Ethiopian sources say about Kemet, what did nubia say. These would provide better answers. How about getting sources from near east africa to discuss this topic?

1) So identities we use are modern and do not apply to the past. 2) I believe Egypt was a place where the black south and west met the returning white north and Indian & Arab east . 3) It would have had been a city started by mostly traveller who mixed and mingled, each Egyptian would have a totally different DNA make-up from the next. 4) Egypt is not a skin colour or certain DNA or biological traits. It is a culture, a mixture of culture, the centre where the world meet. 5) If there were ever locals they would have been few following the Nile from South of Africa and probably got outnumbered and their identity lost into the diversity that followed, from the he west, North and East. 6) No one at the time would have had ancestoral claim to Egypt as Everyone was mostly migrators, travellers, except those who got to be Born there. 7) We all know the Nile River was the main attraction. And the fertile black soils in the banks of the river. 8) The country would have been unique in it's mixed culture, everyone passing by would fit in in the diversity, should have been a very accepting city, were everyone had opportunity to be free and express themselves and thrive to their best. 9) Those who went back to their nations were impressed and tried to implement the Egyptian systems 10) The city was a Super power a hidden germ , where everyone who heard of Egypt wanted to visit the city at least once in their life time. Ruler who heard of Egypt, I am sure had two thoughts come to their minds. First that of fear, of thinking of a nation stronger than theirs, that could possibly challenge them. But I don't believe Egypt had any expansion ambitions beyond the Nile and the sea, it liked being what it was, until the power hungry came. The second thought would have been that of wanting to conquer Egypt and rule over it. Power struggles to take over Egypt could have been common, in a Land where Everyone was a foreigner. Changes in rulers could have been common. 11) But initially could have been a true non centralised democracy, where everyone was free to do whatever as long as they don't interfere with other in a negative way, and everyone respected each other regardless of their looks, origin, or standing. Their systems of leadership different from what we know today. 12) It is the wise, the confident, the strong, the outcasts, the criminal who usually would have made up most initial people of the Egypt. 13) In modern terms I can say the city was made up of smart people, it was the silicon valley of that time, home of science, technology and engineering 14) Ideas from all over the world were abundant, and people had the courage to work on them, some fail and others succeeded. Egypt was not just a place where people met it was a city where ideas met, mixed and expand. 15) Most of these ideas would have been denied and suppressed in their nations of origin because they would have been radical new ideas, but Egypt allowed them to flourish. Egypt was a World leader in ideas and new technology, Egypt became a source of inspiration influence for other nations, North, South, East and West. 16) Earliest use of numbers, writing and records keeping is from Egypt. full writing, using the rebus principle → bookkeeping, instruction, commemoration, scripture, prayer, historical records, organic medicinal remedies from herbal wines (Egypt) 17) These nations that Egypt inspired are the Romans, the Indians, the Arabs, the Jews, the Greek, the Africans and more. Nations which then shaped our modern values and systems today. Most of them directly and indirectly had their origin from Egypt. 18) All the modern principles of Government, Democracy, Freedom, justice, Human rights, economic, maths, science, medicine, architecture, astronomy, astrology, time, calendar, religion all should have had their origin from Egypt, because those principles, would not have been started or practiced anywhere else at the time other than Egypt. Egypt was an epicenter of human development. 19) Egypt is the mother of the modern world. 20) Egypt was the only first true diverse multicultural and racial city, to allow such principles to initiate and its survival should have been pinned in such values. The Greek, Indians, Arabs, Romans, Jews, the Africans and other nations saw the benefits of these values and systems in Egypt and went and planted ideas in their nations, initiating debates, and challenges which influenced and changed those nations. 21) From there We are here were we are Now. Each of Us has some Egyptian DNA in us through the influence Egypt had and still have on us, whether we know it or not, some claimed advanced western concepts which are foundations of men are Egyptian. i.e Time, seasons, and calendar we use today is Egyptian in origin. 22) Those are my thoughts. 23) As always and as everyone else then and now, we still all at least want to visit Egypt once in our lifetime, that spirit still exists. 24) I am yet to make my visit to Egypt. I hope this Covid-19 pandemic that a almost two years now ends soon. To see all its beauty, You wouldn't want to visit Egypt during a pandemic. Most of its beauty lies in its people.

@@AmSeris well not only the bible. But Ancient Egyptians themselves stated that they originated in the Land of Punt. Punt is in the Horn of Africa, in present day Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somaliland. In fact a portrait of a Puntite king has been excavated from Somaliland and it shows the Punt king with a crook and frail, A Egyptian false beard and Pharaonic head gear. This shows that the Horn was tied to Kemet culture. Also for those who claim that Punt was in the Middle East, I have 2 questions since Egyptians imported Baboons, leopards, Leopard skin, Gold, Giraffes, when did the Middle East ever been known to have an abundance of these items ? Second Question , A 26th Dynasty Stelle states that "When it rains on the Mountain of Punt, the Nile floods", if Punt was indeed In the Middle East why would rain on the mountain in the Middle East affect the Nile who's source is in Ethiopia ?.
@AmSeris3 жыл бұрын
@@Wesley-ls5wh You're going to have to provide proper evidence for that. Egyptians treated Punt as a separate entity dating back as the Early Dynastic period, and thought it was holy land for the sun god. Which means the belief that they originated there must have originated from even before the rise of proper civilization. There is no proof they originated from only there as genetics dictate that the North African indigenous chromosomal Y in Egyptian genes is indigenous to the region and that Egyptian genes also have as much as Near-Eastern genes (levant) as Sub-Saharan. Not to mention that depending on the time period of the Early Dynastic period, their religious belief could also lead to having originated from regions of Asia east and northeast of Egypt, such as Lebanon, which was the source of wood for temples. So it's not really correct to base the origins of Egyptians based on the religious beliefs of the first couple of hundreds years in the civilizations. The Pyramids weren't even built by then, and Egyptians changed their religious beliefs and gods more than you can count The reason Keimat* culture is prevalent in the south is because they were influenced by Egypt's success. Not to mention in the 15th century BC, the Egyptian empire stretched all the way down to modern day Sudan (Nubian), and even Punt was under Egyptian influence. Which probably imported all the Egyptian influence on the culture. At the time, Egyptians did not believe they originated from Punt, as they treated them as not only a separate entity now, but different people all together, same thing with the Nubians.
@AmSeris3 жыл бұрын
Though a portion of the Egyptian gene pool might have originated from Punt and other southern areas, it doesn't make up their entire gene pool, and by the time they built their civilizations they considered themselves very different people, especially given away by the fact they were brown skinned and had different features from southerners like Nubia.

@@dorianphilotheates3769 I respect the Greeks so much. I've read a lot about how the Greeks treated Ancient Egypt when the New Kingdom collapsed. They respected the culture and partook in it. They raised Egypt to a new level. I'd dare say Greek heritage in Egypt, especially in Alexandria, is incredibly underrated and is of the same importance as other Ancient Egyptian monuments. Unlike the Arabs, the Greeks lifted our status, our knowledge, and left us many cool things. The Arabs only left us prejudice and erased our identity. One of the things I regret the most about the history is the exodus of the Greeks during Nasser era (and most other foreigners). Truly sad to see shops or places with Greek names in Alexandria for example but no Greeks. Great people like Demis Roussos and so many other greeks shared heritage with Egypt but that community is long gone now I believe. On another note, Egyptology isn't really my branch, but I really wish I could do more to spread awareness about this. It's because our modern population rarely cares and movements like Pharaoism died because of Pan-Arabism that foreigners feel entitled to call us fakes or steal our heritage and identity. Despite many genetic studies proving otherwise, claims spread far and wide even going all the way to somalia or east asia. It just hurts because it leaves people like me for example who do not identify with the Arab identity yet are unable to identify with their indigenous ethnicity because I always get things like "you're european" "you're an Arab" "you're African". How about just I'm Egyptian? I was just talking with this dude in the comments that cited the fact that Egyptians might have migrated from the levantine or inner Africa as a point that Egypt is just a melting pot of black Africans and near easterners. I guess it's that hard to admit that we're just indigenous?

Let us talk about the misunderstanding of historical facts. When it was revealed that Kemet in ancient Egypt meant black land it was in reference to the colour of the fertile soil of that part of the nile and not the skin colour of the people. The claim that the Moors were only black Sub Saharans when in reality the Moors were composed of North African Berbers, Arabs and some black sub Saharans (the latter was comprised of slaves that were castrated and taken by the former two to fight in their armies). In terms of jealousy and insecurity, there's something to be said for the fact that many more African Americans believe in Afrocentrism than Africans themselves. The reason for that is because unlike Sub Saharan Africa (with the exception of South Africa) African Americans live in a nation with a large number of whites who's cultures accomplishments have been most of the world's most advanced. While it's true that Europe only got out of the medieval ages in the late not long before the beginning of the 1600's it's people and their decendants have done more to change the technology of the world in 500 years than anyone else. By comparison virtually all of Sub Saharan Africa was in the stone age and hadn't even created the wheel on their own for their entire existance. Note that I'm stating a fact and not trying to spread hate here. Many African Americans grow up in an environment which causes them to compare themselves to others and tie their self esteem into attaining certain things. It's therapeutic to the pain of their inferiority complex problems for them to hear these lies and misunderstandings. Many of them have become so addicted to the victim card that it has allowed their emotions to hijack their sense of logic. This helps explain why so many of them believe that anyone who disagrees with their views must be a white racist. Black americans do not know which lineage they come from so they claim anything, we have all seen how they claim to be Olmec, Assyrians, Egyptians, Hebrew israelites, Persians, Vikings, ancient Chinese and native Americans and MUCH MUCH more. Inferiority complex together with internal self hatred has it's source from not knowing who you are. White americans can trace their lineages to several nations in Europe but black americans can't so they just claim Egypt bcs it is in Africa. Have u noticed why black americans never talk about Sierra Leone or Ghana? They never mention west and central Africa where they hail from bcs the slave trade took slaves from those areas in Africa. The distance between Egypt and west Africa is the same distance between Egypt to Moscow, the sahara belt is also a natural barrier that seperates anort Africa from sub Sahara Africa. Egypt is even closer to Norway than it is to South Africa. All the dna studies made have confirmed that modern day egyptians are the same as ancient egyptians.

I would not expect you as a probable Christian to believe that, but if you look at pre-Christian activity of Romans in Egypt. They were practicing Egyptian religion. The Greeks and the Romans were power hungry, then they got to fighting with one another, the Church split into many other sects. The Cross=the Ankh, the Pope's crown=the Pharoah's crown, the Patriarch's headdress=the Nemis cloth worn by Egyptian Pharoahs and noble people. And Christianity was brought to Europe by Africans and West Asians. Coptic churches in Germany, likely established in honor of St. Mauritius, the Upper Egyptian who martyred with his 6,000 men, because he would not give respect to the German idols. He is most often portrayed as a Black skinned African. If you have proof that the Greeks and Romans did not get their ideas from Egypt, then were did they get it from?

That same bible has talking serpents, asexual conceptions, all sorts of folk rising from the dead and ascending into the Heavens either on foot or in flaming chariots, floating arks packed to the rafters with two of every single species of terrestrial and winged animal, bisexuals that want to have their way with angels and are burned to a cinder, women turned into pillars of salt. Of course scholars won't consider it a credible source. Also how exactly would it have nothing to do with "Europeans" when Europe was literally a hotbed of Christianity and still is? You're just projecting. Also, you having seen Egyptian artifacts in your stupid British museum means nothing. It's because the British plundered our treasures during their invasion. Come back when you've been born in and living in Egypt, visited every monument, and look exactly like the Ancient Egyptians depicted themselves in portraits and scripture. Stop stealing my culture, black man.
@choicesii13 жыл бұрын
@@AmSeris Well that shows how much you don't know about history in general. Strabo specifically mentions Egyptians as "sundered in twain", where he specifically states are the Egyptians not also sundered in twain like the Ethiopians. Then he mentions the Indians, Troglodytes , and many other people Greeks considered Ethiopian but had different names. Diodorus Sicculus also quotes an Egyptian priest as saying Egypt comes from Nubia, where he proceeds to break down the similarities of Nubia and Egypt. You can also trace the linguistics of Egypt and note it is part of the Erythrean language family, which derives from the Horn of Africa. Christopher Ehret has a lecture where he talks about the evolution of languages evolving from the southward to north.
@AmSeris3 жыл бұрын
@@choicesii1 I don't get your point. How are your vague Greek references in any way conclusive or contradicting to what I said? Nubia is still considered a separate entity. It's only similar because of heavy Egyptian influence. Even the dynasty Nubian pharaohs ruled Egypt is clearly told by historians to be a "Nubian" dynasty. Even the Nubian family is from a different family tree all together called Nilo-Saharan. They're completely unrelated. Why do people think it's okay to bullshit their way through linguistics? When people tried to decode the Egyptian language. They traced back the language to the hypothetical mother Afro-Asiatic language. The same language that gave birth to Semitic and Berber. Both languages that do not belong to east Africans or even black Africans.
@choicesii13 жыл бұрын
@@AmSeris That "hypothetical language" family you're referring to is Proto-Erythrean, which is from East Africa. And yes, Berber and Semitic both belong to that same language family as does Cushitic. Marvin Lionel Bender places Egyptian as a derivative of Cushitic, in which he terms the family Macro-Cushitic. Christopher Ehret is the leading linguist on this subject, you should look into his newer works, where he explains the migration of language and people from the south upward. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZCndWekot6iqdU As the Roman historian Diodorus Siculus quotes an Egyptian priest as saying " They say also that the Egyptians are colonists sent out by the Ethiopians, Osiris having been the leader of the colony. 2 For, speaking generally, what is now Egypt, they maintain, was not land but sea when in the beginning the universe was being formed; afterwards, however, as the Nile during the times of its inundation carried down the mud from Ethiopia, land was gradually built up from the deposit. Also the statement that all the land of the Egyptians is alluvial silt deposited by the river receives the clearest proof, in their opinion, from what takes place at the outlets of the Nile; 3 for as each year new mud is continually gathered together at the mouths of the river, the sea is observed being thrust back by the deposited silt and the land receiving the increase. And the larger part of the customs of the Egyptians are, they hold, Ethiopian, the p95 colonists still preserving their ancient manners. 4 For instance, the belief that their kings are gods, the very special attention which they pay to their burials, and many other matters of a similar nature are Ethiopian practices, while the shapes of their statues and the forms of their letters are Ethiopian; 5 for of the two kinds of writing5 which the Egyptians have, that which is known as "popular" (demotic) is learned by everyone, while that which is called "sacred"6 is understood only by the priests of the Egyptians, who learn it from their fathers as one of the things which are not divulged, but among the Ethiopians everyone uses these forms of letters" penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/Roman/Texts/Diodorus_Siculus/3A*.html You have to remember ancient Egypt was two Kingdoms brought together as one. The first mentioning of Nubia by the Egyptians was as many Kingdoms that came together as one. After the merging of Egypt the second pharaoh Hor-Aha attempted to merge Nubia and the Levant into Egypt and failed. So Nubia was not conquered until much later in its existence.

I wouldn't rely so much on Dr Moreno's narrative, He seems to have some biased , using modern prejudiced narrative, template/ perspective to describe a history were such now modern perspective never existed in ancient Egypt. And he is not distinguishing between time periods or assigning the artifacts to their time periods, which would be helpful because we know Egypt had a lot of mixing. And Nubians have so distinct features with our current prejudiced and discrimination it is easy to pick and assume race relevance which was not there. And to assume that the Nubians in high authority was bonevolence if the light skinned people who were there.

The Moors didn't conquer Spain for the Spaniards' benefit, you know. They were in it for themselves, as was everyone else. They tried to force their culture, religion, and even their personages on the populace - sound familiar? - and in the end, they failed. You should be celebrating the fact that the native Spaniards managed to throw out their invading colonizers! Or is colony-building and invasion under the pretense of "educating the natives" only bad when white people do it?
